Is Elon Musk just trolling at this point? That’s a real possibility given who he’s chosen to give access to the now infamous “Twitter files” surrounding the censorship of the Hunter Biden story. It’s not that the reporters involved aren’t great at their jobs. On the contrary, they are excellent choices in that regard. Rather, it’s the hysterical reactions they elicit.
First came Matt Taibbi, who spent Friday evening posting revelations from the document dump. Naturally, he was excoriated by his leftwing colleagues who feel Americans are too stupid to have unfettered access to information. Now, Musk is upping the ante, giving Bari Weiss access to mine the files as well.
For reasons I’ve never quite understood, Weiss is roundly hated by the mean girls club that is the mainstream media. After essentially being forced out at The New York Times, she spilled the beans on just how corrupt and biased her former employer is. That made her a bit of a pariah, with mentions of her name causing mass consternation across the press corps.
What’s so silly about that dynamic is that Weiss is actually fairly liberal, at least in the traditional sense. What makes her different, though, is that she’s fair-minded and willing to tackle topics others don’t want to touch for partisan reasons. Namely, there are some groups of people the mainstream media hates to offer any non-negative coverage to, and Weiss has been willing to tell their stories with an unbiased eye.
It’s not a coincidence that Musk chose Taibbi and Weiss to headline his release of the Twitter files. He knows it tweaks those who are working to destroy him, and the billionaire is all about his troll game. More importantly, though, he also knows that he will get the story out there without it going through the partisan filter of your typical hack at CNN or The Washington Post.
The suppression of the Hunter Biden story in coordination with Democrat election officials and the Biden campaign is a serious matter. Musk could have just dumped the documents out into the open indiscriminately, but doing so would have unnecessarily muddied the waters and allowed the leftwing press to continue to obfuscate. Tapping serious reporters with serious records to sift through things and bring forth the most stunning aspects is an excellent strategy.
It is great how Elon is rubbing the establishment lefts noses in the censorship scandal.
I wish ELon would have chosen Glenn Greenwald. I just don’t trust Matt Taibbi. Sure, he is more honest than most libs but Greenwald never had the severe case of TDS that Taibbi has. His hatred of Trump will most likely skew his investigation.
I’d like to know how many conservative account holders are still banned.
The Left is angry because they have been wrong all along. They have suppressed the truth, and in a sense suppressed voting. Controlled the masses through censorship and hiding the truth. The Ultimate Fascism, you know, what they accuse the Right of being? Well, they are what they call others. And it’s time it was exposed to the world.
In marketing terms, he is simply tapping an underserved market opportunity. I would not assume anything else about his desire to troll.
Mark Steyn— fearless.
and he’s doing it by giving access to liberal journalists....ie they are liberals not Leftists and they are actual journalists, not propagandists which most of them employed by the corporate media are. Those two + Glen Greewald and a few others do still actually exist. ie Liberals who are intellectually honest and who believe in actual principles instead of just power for their team at any cost.
Glenn Greenwald should be in on this, too.
And he can add Naomi Wolf, also
I thought all accounts were reinstated.
if a trump hater can see that the game was rigged... even better.
Mine hasn’t been.
I was banned in mid ‘19, interesting timing on that BTW.
I never violated any terms of service.
Still banned, still can’t access my account, and neither can anyone else.
BTW, is Twitter still censoring tweets about Brazil’s stolen election...
Inquiring minds want to know.
I think Musk learned a lot from Trumps use of twitter but has taken it to the next level, and he’s certainly more methodical about it then Trump who was literally a loose cannon with the keyboard (but my golly, it was fun for those 4 years!)
I do wish Trump would have tweeted more effectively. Yes I truly think he could have outwitted the media much better by simply bypassing them and making them irrelevant.
Instead of wasting air quoting polls and stuff all the time and wasting his breath with the Acosta’s and Mika’s of the world, he should have simply made them irrelevant by doing interviews etc.... with small, no-name up and coming young journalists/bloggers etc.......
Imagine some young writer with maybe only a few thousand followers getting a one-on one interview with the president and being able to ask him REAL questions? Same thing with Sanders and McEneny—they should have ignored the mainstream and sought out the nobodys
Imagine someone like the youtuber Peter Santonello getting a chance to just do his “documentary” style journalism with a Trump meeting? Would have been much more productive then stupid 60 minute interviews with hacks.
I would also like to know who felt the need to ban a no-name self-identified registered Dem and why.
If there’s a class-action suit, I want in.
I want answers.
Q for Musk: What is so threatening about an average American housewife?
I’d really love to know the answer to that.
Musk will likely have a variety of people reviewing the docs.
Having non-crazy liberals have at it first will make it harder for the Deep State media to paint their findings as lies and conspiracy theory.
They don’t care a whit about being “right or wrong”, a lot of people need to get that in their head.
They aren’t operating from a position of integrity or fair mindedness or any of that. Power, and money. That’s it. It’s why the old ways of journalism had to go. Report the facts, and let the chips fall where they may? Not a chance. The media now exists solely to (hopefully) prevent anybody from figuring out what’s going on.
“Cover a story. With a pillow... till it stops moving.”
Greenwald is exiled to Brazil.
He faces the Assange/Snowden treatment if he returns to “the land of the free.” /sarc
Musk had to have an independent reporter on site, physically, so that rules out Greenwald.
I’m still banned. I had 17K followers when I was thrown out.
I can go to twitter and follow accounts, but I still can’t post, comment or RT.
