Elon Musk Adds Bari Weiss to the 'Twitter Files' Team, Which is Sure to Cause Mass Consternation
Red State ^ | 3 Dec, 2022 | Bonchie

Is Elon Musk just trolling at this point? That’s a real possibility given who he’s chosen to give access to the now infamous “Twitter files” surrounding the censorship of the Hunter Biden story. It’s not that the reporters involved aren’t great at their jobs. On the contrary, they are excellent choices in that regard. Rather, it’s the hysterical reactions they elicit.

First came Matt Taibbi, who spent Friday evening posting revelations from the document dump. Naturally, he was excoriated by his leftwing colleagues who feel Americans are too stupid to have unfettered access to information. Now, Musk is upping the ante, giving Bari Weiss access to mine the files as well.

For reasons I’ve never quite understood, Weiss is roundly hated by the mean girls club that is the mainstream media. After essentially being forced out at The New York Times, she spilled the beans on just how corrupt and biased her former employer is. That made her a bit of a pariah, with mentions of her name causing mass consternation across the press corps.

What’s so silly about that dynamic is that Weiss is actually fairly liberal, at least in the traditional sense. What makes her different, though, is that she’s fair-minded and willing to tackle topics others don’t want to touch for partisan reasons. Namely, there are some groups of people the mainstream media hates to offer any non-negative coverage to, and Weiss has been willing to tell their stories with an unbiased eye.

It’s not a coincidence that Musk chose Taibbi and Weiss to headline his release of the Twitter files. He knows it tweaks those who are working to destroy him, and the billionaire is all about his troll game. More importantly, though, he also knows that he will get the story out there without it going through the partisan filter of your typical hack at CNN or The Washington Post.

The suppression of the Hunter Biden story in coordination with Democrat election officials and the Biden campaign is a serious matter. Musk could have just dumped the documents out into the open indiscriminately, but doing so would have unnecessarily muddied the waters and allowed the leftwing press to continue to obfuscate. Tapping serious reporters with serious records to sift through things and bring forth the most stunning aspects is an excellent strategy.

Need to add Glenn Greenwold for a trifecta.

Taibbi and Weiss are classical liberals who believe in free speech and telling the truth unlike the other leftist nutjobs. They are more similar to Glen Greenwald in that respect. Musk knew if he chose someone on the right that person would have just been attacked and dismissed, and while they are doing the same to Weiss and Taibbi, it just make the left look like foolish hypocrites.

Yes Taibbi displayed TDS, but I suspect at least some of that was because he was afraid of losing his leftist audience otherwise. He’s not as brave as Glen Greenwald whom I have a lot of respect for.

If I were a Twitter member (full disclosure: I'm not) could I nominate someone to be a third, balancing voice?

How about John Solomon? We need to make sure that all the Twitter criminality of the Left is being reported on, and I would trust Solomon to do a good and fair job of it vs. any Leftist that Musk chooses.

I think that all too many of you are missing the point: Elon Musk is taking things one step at a time. First, he fired the obvious free-loaders. He then told the rest of the crew that he expects them to revert to start-up mode and start producing instead of coasting, or take to the exit. Note that Apple decided to come back to Twitter as an advertiser.

Change doesn't happen overnight when you are trying to do exactly the right thing. And change carries the risk of falling into the trap of unintended consequences. Mr. Musk has already encountered that problem; thankfully, the problem wasn't fatal to the process.

Here is a data point to ponder: Mr. Musk was at the tip of the great purge of bloat in the tech sector. Other tech companies are starting to jump on Musk's bandwagon. I suspect that the Great Downsizing will spill over into other sectors of the economy. In other words, the unemployment numbers are going to get worse as we slide into Biden's recession. Delusions of entitlement aren't just in the one corner of the work force.

I just hope and pray that the government sector will get Layoff Fever. Frankly, I think that some of the rot at all levels is the reason we are seeing more stories about grandmothers being arrested for not appearing in Court because someone dropped the service ball. And why the FBI is not doing the job it claims is its reason for existence.

Thanks for the info!

Twitter is certainly in transition under Musk. It will take some time to shake out.

I’m waiting to see what HE considers free speech! He is conflicted between allowing ALL speech and making a profit.

I hope his intentions are pure. So far he doesn’t seem to be partisan, although the Dems will accuse him of that because they’ve lost influence.

I would love to see Musk balance off these 2 with Steve Bannon. Of course, that’s not part of the strategy. Clearly, the strategy is to completely disarm. Any attempt by the Far Left to discredit what he is doing by releasing this information. But having bad, and in the same position as these two reporters would be a hoot. Exploding heads on the Left would be epic.

OK, this is why I can’t trust my phone, and should proof my comments before posting. Here’s what should have been posted:

I have to agree with Bonchie here.

The lying pieces of Media Mitt attacking Taibbi on the Twittsewer are just outing themselves as DNC tools.

Glenn Greenwald lives in Brazil primarily because his husband is from, and lives there.

“It is great how Elon is rubbing the establishment lefts noses in the censorship scandal.”

When is her going to release the censorship of election fraud and COVID Shots?
