500 mile range if payload is not included.

It could well be down to 50 - 100 miles with a typical Semi payload.

and a truck that likely weighs significantly more than a traditional semi due to the batteries.….

less freight being transported

Charging….to be done where? Loves, Pilot, QT….let’s be generous and say that the charging takes an hour. Anyone ever been to a truck stop? You could be waiting hours to get a charger.

DOT reg’s allow 11hrs of driving in a 14hr day, with a mandatory 30min break after 8hrs. No telling how long it’ll take to get stuff delivered.

And no telling what the cost of the charging equipment will cost.

Government f’ing things up again.
Why can an EV haul more than diesel legally?
Newsom can give these to black slaves in CA for delivery.

Sounds impressive. Yet will it hold up with the wear and tear of continuous use to justify the cost. Somehow a bit skeptical that this EV will do well hauling a big load up a modest grade in inclement weather. Also EV repairs are hugely expensive. Only time and much use will tell the real story. However if you can really recharge repeatedly in just 30 minutes, that alone is quite an accomplishment. Question is will this really happen over the long term.

The Railway unions are giving Biden the middle finger.

Article says nothing about when these things would be in full production. Musk announced it in 2017 and still hasn’t delivered. Seems like normal for him. Big promises and then failure to deliver.

If trucking companies are smart, and they are not, but, if they insist on going with this crap, they must run a freight transfer system.

One driver runs the load to the next driver, the truck gets charged, and the next driver takes the load to the next driver.

The shyster big trucking companies arent smart enough to do that though.

This is a tremendous advancement in electrical vehicle technology. Musk is literally changing the world and it appears for the better.

The bigger the battery - the less cargo it can haul. Another huge disadvantage. Inefficient fuel, inefficient cargo space, long recharge down time.

Look ridiculous to me. EV semis are a bridge too far! Elon should stick to automobiles
