We had one until the 70s, I think.
“Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect
country and western song because he hadn’t said anything about
Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin’ drunk.”
~David Allan Coe
Some of ya’ll might realize a tweak is sometimes all it takes.
Judy’s Over the Rainbow can get no better, I love the beauty of the song and her young face before she ruined it all with drugs alcohol and whatever else she put into her body that made her a nervous, jerking wreck near the end of her life.
You never even call me by my name..................
I think most guys, if they’re honest, did.
I’m pre-programmed to like redheads, since my mother and her mother are redheads and one of my sisters is as well............
I’ll go out on a limb, here, and say that having now seen the original I prefer it. It speaks to me.
Folks can read into that anything they like.
Glad they rewrote it as well. I imagine the original lyrics would be enough to drive some to end it all.
Dude ...
I’ve found the perfect girl for you!
She’s a redhead. She works as a hairdresser, now, but she used to be a stripper.
Her name is “Tiffany”.
Good Luck!
(OK ... I got a thing for gingers, too ...)
Sad too....she was a pretty and very talented performer.
Too late, I’m spoken for!......................
The original was really dark. There is no way that would be a popular Christmas Carol today. Yuck.
Me too. My first showbiz crush. Always loved her.
I prefer the version from the movie.
Very melancholy.
Finally, someone else. She was creepy. Still can’t stand “The Wizard of Oz” or the Andy Hardy movies. Was it her or Liza who married a weirdo who was after the millions?
‘Judy’s Over the Rainbow can get no better’
I always liked the actions of her dog Toto while she was singing...mangy looking mutt overall, but cute in that segment...
and yes, both the song and the songstress were beautiful...
If you don’t like that version, try this:
Someone once said, country and western lyrics are "psychology for 6th-graders." LOLs! I personally think they're some of the cleverest folk wisdom around.
I think most folks would sooner die before that happened. Average person couldn’t afford to live there as a street bum most likely. It would most likely take my whole S.S. check for a one-room apartment in that city, leaving nothing for any other of life’s necessities.
