No chit Cherlock.
“This has eliminated the need for almost 2.5 billion gallons of gasoline and 19 million tons of greenhouse gases. For comparison, the US used roughly 369 million gallons of gasoline each day in 2021. Plug-in cars particularly saved 690 million gallons of gasoline in 2021 and cut CO2 emissions by 5.4 million metric tons while using 6.1 TWh.”
How many extra tons of coal, or LNG was used to generate the electricity from power plants to charge these vehicles?
And what is that in terms CO2 emission?
I know a lot of people who have cut down on their driving due to gas prices. So, attributing reduced gas consumption to the new EV’s is a flawed assumption.
Now if all 275 million cars were EVs, then they would use 41.25% of the nation’s electricity. So where do we either get 41.25% more or who uses 41.25% less?
EV’s are bad for the Planet.
70% of Chinese Lithium batteries are made in Uighur Muslim Concentration Camps.
The Cobalt that is required by your EV came from Child Slave miners in Africa.
Volkswagen is clear-cutting the Indonesian Rainforest so they can strip mine nickel laterites for their new EVs.
EVs reduced gas use 1%.
EVs are 1% of all passenger vehicles.
When EVs are 50% of all passenger vehicles, it will reduce gas use by 50%.
Math is not hard. Where is Danica McKellar when you need her?
Did they count all the oil used to produce many parts of every EV sand the ongoing use of oil by EVs every time they get new tires?
* 369 million gallons of gasoline each day in 2021. Plug-in cars particularly saved 690 million gallons of gasoline in 2021 *
so EV’s saved a bit less than 2 days of gasoline over a year. Not counting the energy required to produce the electricity to recharge the EVs.
