This week's episode is about his theory of the destructiveness of stupid behaviour and why it is so underestimated and misunderstood.

Years ago when I had my shop, I walked into shop floor seeing a worker sitting on top of a 18 wheeler air spring and two other guys standing around to watch.

Said he was going to inflate the air spring while sitting on it.

Got him up and went over his situation with him.

The air spring top was 12 inches diameter, fast fill air hose was at 175 psi.

Got out my calculator and we went over the numbers together…

Pi x Radius squared gave area of the top at 113 square inches.

Discussed that PSI means pounds per square inch.

Agreed that he could probably get 100 psi into the air spring quickly.

Note the air spring is three parts and the truck mounts hold the assembly together when inflated.

Showed him that 100 psi to 113 square inches area is 1,130 pounds of force.

Asked him how hard would he hit the steel trusses 20 feet overhead at his body weight.

*He went on to later find better stupid ideas.

Many many years ago I worked for Westinghouse and attended an awards banquet. A speaker was introduced who spoke about artificial intelligence, which was in its infancy then. I spoke up and wondered when I could present my report on artificial stupidity - was never invited to another banquet.
