Briefly: Russian forces have minor gains in the vicinity of Bakhmut as they managed to advance on the eastern flank. Ukrainian forces continue to successfully repel Russian attacks on all other fronts.

They are evacuating RESIDENTS, because of the risk and scarcity of resources. It is the prudent thing to evacuate non-combatants when you prepare for heavy fighting.

After the initial first 4 months of fighting, Putin swapped out trained soldiers and put in militias. Now that most of Zelensky’s troops have been destroyed, the Russian army is coming back and is flattening infrastructure. Russia’s infrastructure is intact, many Ukrainians are sitting in the dark and cold without water.
Claiming that you’re forcing Putin troops from one location to another is not winning as the Russians beat the infrastructure into dust.

There is nothing remotely communist about modern-day Russia, which 13% flat tax rate and is spending $2.5 billion a year constructing churches.
You dont have to be a military genius to know that when you give up territory you have annexed that it is not a favorable development.

You can flatten your opponent’s infrastructure until they stop attacking you. You can afford to redeploy (withdraw) or replace your volunteers and militias with your better soldiers.
The Russians withdrew from the West bank because they knew Zelensky would blow the bridge. They got most of their soldiers to the East but Zelensky blew the bridge before all could cross, and then blamed Putin’s forces.
You wouldn’t have to be a genius to realize moving your troops would be a good idea. Strategy - you really should look into it!
So the withdrew because Ukrainian military pressure - in this case blowing the bridge.

Welp seven months later, those 60K troops have yet to surrender, and Russia has yet to control all the coastline. In fact russian controls LESS territory now than in April....
