What part of "He tried to stab a deputy." do you NOT understand. This nation is finished.

Tragic and very odd. Not trying to justify the officers, but why would you call 911 and then become uncoperative with your potential rescuers?

Scary, I carry a rock hammer in my truck because you never know when you will find an interesting rock.

Didn't know it could get me killed - legally.

“The 22-year-old had told a 911 dispatcher he had two knives, a hammer and a rubber mallet when he was asked whether he had any weapons, according to call records.”

The kid answered wrong. Those are TOOLS...not WEAPONS.

Deputies were able to break windows of the vehicle and remove the knife, but "the suspect rearmed himself with a rock and a second knife," the statement said. “Deputies deployed less-lethal bean bags, and Taser with negative results. The suspect eventually tried to stab an officer and was shot.”

An autopsy determined he had died from gunshot wounds. It also showed that he had a .01% blood alcohol level and THC in his system, as well as amphetamine, which the Denver-based Rathod/Mohamedbhai law firm representing his family previously said was likely to be from a prescription to treat ADHD.

Is the trial in Boulder?

If yes, the two cops are doomed.

Consequence - the general public will not be protected from highly disruptive, and potentially dangerous, people.

To me, there are issues that remain unclear:

They arrived and found a single vehicle, which appeared to have been involved in an accident, it said. Glass "immediately became argumentative and uncooperative with the deputies and had armed himself with a knife," the statement said.

"Additional law enforcement officers arrived and for over an hour tried to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution," it said.

If it all was innocent , as far as the victim goes, why this aberrant behavior by him? My question remains, with this kind of mistrust in police officers by so many, as well as, many of the politicians who employ them; why do people continue to engage in this profession?

The sheriff is gutless.

He should have told his critics to stuff it and that any time you wave a knife at one of his deputies you are at risk of getting shot.

Most cops have zero tolerance for people who try to cut them and the reason is that knife wounds are statistically more fatal than bullet wounds.

The deputies might have handled the situation in a way that would not have resulted in a death but the penalty they will be paying because they work for a spinless sheriff is not the proper punishment.

And no one has suggested a fool proof way to get the guy out of the vehicle.

My two questions:

Why was he "terrified" to exit the vehicle? Mental issues or were the cops intimidating in some manner? We've seen instances of cops going Rambo (google Daniel Shaver).

Why were the cops so keen on getting him out of the vehicle? If they were afraid for their safety I'd think they'd be better off if he remained in the vehicle.

More TRAINING needed.... for the PUBLIC.

Especially MORONS like this kid. Maybe he should have not been out on his own?

SCARED? Of WHAT? You called the police, moron. They came. Open the window, and/or get out of the car!

Follow police instructions to the TEE.

The gene pool has been improved.

If not, YOU MAY BE KILLED!

Even if the police were wrong and go to prison, you are still DEAD!
