Celebrated filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is facing criticism for candid comments he made about actors in Marvel movies not being legitimate stars.

“I don’t love them,” Tarantino said of Marvel films. “No, I don’t. I don’t hate them. But I don’t love them. I mean, look, I used to collect Marvel comics like crazy when I was a kid.”
“There’s an aspect that if these movies were coming out when I was in my twenties, I would totally be f***king happy and totally love them. [But] they wouldn’t be the only movies being made, they would be those movies amongst other movies. I’m almost 60 so I’m not quite as excited about them,” he continued.
Tarantino repeated a common criticism of the films, claiming they are overhyped and repetitive, plus leave less room for more creative projects.
[snip]
"it’s just the fact that they are the entire representation of this era of movies right now. There’s not really much room for anything else. That’s my problem. It’s a problem of representation."

Tarantino claimed moviegoers only cared about superheroes on screen no matter who was playing them.

Tarantino’s observations did not amuse several followers.

Marvel actor Simu Liu, who starred in “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” also made his opinion known on Twitter.

“But they don’t get to point their nose at me or anyone. No movie studio is or ever will be perfect. But I’m proud to work with one that has made sustained efforts to improve diversity onscreen by creating heroes that empower and inspire people of all communities everywhere. I loved the ‘Golden Age’ too.. but it was white as hell.”

Me either, don't get the fuss.
Quentin, I can understand how you feel about the MCU. As a marvel fan, where Disney took marvel is disappointing to me.
Most of them are just liberal political hacks trying to make the far-left look “heroic.” Future Marvel “actors” are currently doing toilet paper commercials.
I'm not fond of those CGI festivals, either. I've seen a few to placate the younger members of our family, but then I went to see Downton Abbey: A New Era to placate Mrs. Chandler.

Not true.
See Ben Afleck
To the girls out there, if you have a boyfriend with Batman parapherania all over his apartment, run far away. Otherwise, you might end up marrying some overgrown kid who can't cook for himself or make his own bed in the morning.
He’s right about the worthlessness of the movies, but most of the actors with big roles in them were already “stars” and don’t lose that status for appearing in clunkers.
Manga.
Now philosophy has become woke, but like the movies, an increasing number of people are saying that philosophy is pointless. After all, there is still no agreement on whether or not there is a God, whether or not we have free will, etc.
Will the wokesters who do "Feminist Philosophy", "Intersectional Philosophy", and "Queer Philosophy" get their panties in a bunch because the scientific community specifically, and the community in general now dismiss philosophy as mere mental masturbation?
Don’t worry about her. If she’s the sort that is attracted to a guy who’s most cherished activity is attending yearly ComiCon conventions, then she is most likely a “Mary Sue” and can do everything better than anyone else and doesn’t need him for anything except comparing game card collections.
I would love to see “Once upon a time in the west” redone by QT.
Are there exceptions? Sure, once every year or two. But for the most part, woke crap.
there is a reason these movies are failing besides the woke messaging. at some point the well runs dry and the saturation of the market kills it as a money maker. This happen to westerns in the 1970s all the studios were making them and they stoped bringing the public into the movie theaters. there will be the new big story telling jonra with new directors making there mark we just have to watch the studios burn through their money riding failure till the independent content creator discovers the formula that works.
I know a guy who has action heroes on the shelves of his home office, (along with various full-size virtual arcade games and a Fender Strat). He runs the police I.T. department in a major U.S. city. He's been married for twenty years and they have a lot of kids with whom he shares his geeky ways.
I still stand by my remark that this superhero comic book business is rather juvenile stuff. When I was around 13 or so I graduated to Mad Magazine and then girls. But to each, their own.
1) Several of these movies have earned over a billion dollars at the box office. The customers like them. Tarantino is part of “the industry” — so what I see here is “the industry” criticizing the customers for obsessing with products that aren’t good. That seems a little like elected politicians criticizing voters as “deplorables”.
2) Also, customers may buy tickets, but the customers don’t make the movies. Tarantino’s peers in the industry are making these things. Tarantino seems to be criticizing a few movies, but what he ought to emphasizing is that his industry is soulless and obsessed with profit and doesn’t mind turning out crap. Don’t say “the movies are bad”. Say “Hollywood is bad”.

While I can appreciate your admiration of QT’s gift as a filmmaker, Sergio Leone’s “Once Upon a Time in the West” should be left as the cinematic masterpiece that it is.
It is, indeed.
