GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A Gainesville man is in jail after being accused of stealing from a Walmart store that he claimed he owned.
According to Gainesville Police Department records obtained by WCJB, Steven Francis, 51, was caught stealing clothes from the Walmart located behind Butler Plaza in Gainesville.
Upon arrival, officers said Francis told them he was the owner of the store after a “hostile takeover.” Francis said he had no remorse for taking the clothes because he already owned the store.
According to WCJB, the items taken are estimated to be worth over $200.
Francis is currently behind held at the Alachua County Jail.
Silly rabbit, doesn’t he know enough to do that in California? It wouldn’t have even turned heads in CA. And security would have held the door open as you left with a cart full of stolen goods.
ACRs, hmmm. This ACR just learned a new term. ;)
Where was the homeless camp you speak of? I’m sure I was gone by then, but there was a little area near campus that used to be where the Hare Krishnas lived. Is that where you mean?
Plot twist: They find out Florida Man really DOES own that store......sues for false imprisonment.
He looks pretty old for just being 51. Rough life I guess.

That’s the Winn Dixie by me(back in 2008-2012). They would enter the woods on SW 6th St.
Schizophrenia from long term or hallucinogenic drug abuse.
I know that Winn-Dixie very well. The homestead isn’t even but a mile from there.
I shopped there when lazy or hungover.
Numerous times I was the only white dude.
I think most thought I was a cop.
I’m muscular with the same haircut from my USAF days.
Nobody talked to, or bothered, me.
Booze store was on the corner.
P.S. yes, that’s the same place the HK’s hung out. Near PK Yonge. That piece of 6th St wasn’t built yet until after I went to college. Every year when I visit it seems there’s something new in Gator Town. I guess that’s good. Maybe anyway.
If he identified as such, who are we to argue? /s
PK Yonge was about 300 yards from my place.
It was a crappy light blue apartment building next to a small parking lot, a bus stop, and a pond.
One of my neighbors(frat guy) got drunk and high on cocaine and caught a 6’ gator in the pond with his frat brother.
He brought it in his apartment.
Yep, the ABC was across the street, the whole time I lived there. When we needed a quick trip to the grocery, we went to an old IGA on SE 7th Ave (long gone) or WD, usually WD. I still liked going to Publix better. The closest one to us was on Main and NE 16th Ave.

LOL, that could describe a hundred apartments in GVL. Pretty sure I know where you mean though.

“ Francis said he had no remorse for taking the clothes because he already owned the store”
With that attitude he HAS TO BE a member of Congress.
Which district does he represent ?
I used to drive right by your old apartment every day on my way to HS. Every day. I went to Buchholz but lived past Depot and Main from your place.
My sister used to work for the New York State Welfare Department back around 1971. She worked in the enforcement arm back in the day, her job was to verify eligibility. Seems like a quaint notion, today. She had a co-worker who was a real sleaze, but capable enough. He was a landlord on the side and owned some apartments in Manhattan. He had a non-paying tenant. Evicting him would be a pain and expense. He went to a stationary store and purchased some seals and ribbons and made a DIY eviction order. He showed it to the tenant and began carrying his goods out to the curb, after changing the lock. The tenant called the cops. He told the cops he lived there. They asked for a canceled check. He said he didn’t pay rent. They told him it was a civil matter and to take the landlord to court.
Nice, I know where that is.
I enjoyed walking by the Sororities everyday.
I’m a dirty old man.
Can’t take the eyes out of a man. You’re just admiring some of God’s finer creations.
Aye. :)
