Most disliked Thanksgiving Day dishes
wgntv ^

Americans will soon be gathering for their Thanksgiving feast. But there are certain “Turkey Day” dishes that many people aren’t thankful to see on the table or their plate. A travel website, The Vacationer, surveyed 1,092 adults to find the most disliked Thanksgiving foods. Cranberry sauce tops the list with nearly 30% of those surveyed opting to pass on it. The second most disliked food is Turkey! Yes, turkey!!! (Whaaat??) Followed by sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and stuffing (or dressing for those of you in the South). So, if you’re doing the cooking this year, take note, plan accordingly and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

1 Cranberry Sauce (29.92% dislike) 2 Turkey (28.09% dislike) 3 Sweet Potatoes or Yams (24.25% dislike) 4 Green Bean Casserole (24.61% dislike) 5 Stuffing or Dressing (23.42% dislike) 6 Coleslaw (21.68% dislike) 7 Ham (21.23% dislike) 8 Pumpkin Pie (20.77% dislike) 9 Mashed Potatoes (17.57% dislike) 10 Macaroni and Cheese (14.73% dislike) 11 Corn (13.82% dislike) 12 Carrots (12.08% dislike)

Three of my four adult kids will be with us this weekend. None of them like turkey.

My wife and I will be enjoying a smoked turkey breast and the fixins including cranberry sauce while those losers have a pizza

I also had nothing against canned cranberry sauce but my wife converted me. She makes a true cranberry sauce with real cranberries, sugar, orange zest, raspberry vinegar all cooked down to delicious goodness. Can’t beat its

This country has become a hoard of chronic bitchers. God has blessed us beyond measure.

I agree that there are a lot of people who whine or get offended by every little thing, but I see this thread as a lighthearted discussion about people’s personal likes/dislikes. I find it fun to read.

I believe this is kind of an annual FR tradition.

Jellied cranberry can make a nice spread for turkey, finger sandwiches. Cranberry makes the best kerfir water, it’s good help with the urinary tract. I’m not much a fan of cranberry with roasted turkey. Chilled stuff on my hot food—that’s like using chilled mustard or ketchup on hot food.

Green bean casserole: can’t be cream of mushroom or mushroom at all- it has to be the sour cream, butter and onion, topped with corn flakes. Yes, I like mushrooms, just not there.

Yams/sweet taters are fine if they don’t have a ton of sugar— that dish is usually something that’s sickly sweet.

Pumpkin roll not pie ftw.

Stuffing is bleh, dressing is yummy especially topped with homemade dumplings (homemade noodle type not doughballs) or giblet gravy topped.

Mac and cheese is yuck, I don’t care for it but will eat it.

It’s people like you that cause unrest.

“Mac and cheese I believe is a standard African-American side dish at Thanksgiving.”

Appalachian as well although we have Black relatives so maybe that is why it is there. My wife makes it at Thanksgiving as did her mother and aunts.

“and stuffing”

Anyone who doesn’t like stuffing should be deported.

We had Thanksgiving #1 last Sunday because sister’s daughter was home from school before going to Banff this week. So the host for Thanksgiving #2 decided we are having lasgana since some of us already had turkey. Not everyone is happy about this. Last year it was stew. I’m beginning to think our hostess just doesn’t want to do a turkey.

I think this means I’ll have to do turkey for Christmas.

On a day that is meant to number your blessings and be thankful, here we have people bitching about what they don’t like.

I believe it’s just a lighthearted, fun discussion. Everybody has things they especially like or dislike.

I’m not a picky eater at all, but I strongly dislike Brussels sprouts and mac & cheese.

Mac and cheese I believe is a standard African-American side dish at Thanksgiving.

I had African-American friends who hosted a pre-Thanksgiving party (I suppose it’s what they call “Friendsgiving” now) every year about a week before Thanksgiving.

They didn’t serve mac & cheese, but they always had greens and dirty rice, both of which were delicious.

I'm for tradition on Thanksgiving. And what's more traditional than aluminum foil?

Must have been a panel of World’s Fussiest Babies passing judgement (and gas) from their lofty high chairs.
I think most items on the ‘most disliked’ list are there because of Menu-Fatigue; people grew up being fed these items year after year and have just gotten tired of them.

Our family always served a side of sauteed mushrooms with the feast. I’ve added Brussels sprouts gratin instead of green bean casserole (which I like but it needs to be zhuzhed). And I like the canned cranberry sauce (not whole berry either).

I do. Always have. Homemade of course. I like coleslaw’s cool and creamy foil to the rest of the savory dishes.
