Certainly as a feint. I'm pretty skeptical of a deliberate river crossing, though. Sure, they could get some guys over in small boats, but they'd have no route to retreat, no supply line, and a small bridgehead would get absolutely hammered by Russian artillery.

Maybe if they tried a drive south towards Vasylivka and a landing at Enerhodar. But even that's pretty risky.

Reportedly, the Ukies have landed on the Kinburn Spit in Southern Mikolaiv province:

Now, that could be just propaganda, but its a narrow enough peninsula that the Ukies could get a bridgehead there and hold it with enough air and HIMARS support.

That also makes it hard for the Ruskies to hide their artillery from the Ukie drones. Places like that are prime areas for sea power, and the Russian navy has been in hiding from the Ukie drones since the Moskva went down to Dave Jones' locker. Ukie gunboats, would operate unopposed.

The Ukies may be elsewhere on that peninsula where there is some ground cover, and not on the sandy "spit" at the point of the peninsula. Due to over use, Russian artillery has also become very inaccurate, and the Ukies have gotten better at counter batteries and suppression where they have the Western supplied weapons systems. I don't rule out that this story is accurate, but time will tell.
