Pam and Jim Colbert's dog Buddy, a Mini Australian Shepherd, was filleted and skinned on October 21, weeks before four college students were murdered..
Couple let their dog out before going to bed but believe somebody was waiting..
The dog .. was found skinned from head to tail ..
Although police have not made a direct connection between the dog's killing and the murders, it has left the community feeling nervous and scared..
...
A police expert has also suggested the four victims may have been too shocked to scream while being killed..
Two housemates survived, with questions as to why they didn't call 911 earlier..
....
Explaining the sequence of events 'We let Buddy out and somebody must have been waiting out there. Bud never leaves the yard but this person grabbed Buddy.
'We always leave our doors open and he didn't come back in. Later that night, Jim went out calling him and couldn't find him. Friends came up and started looking for him and eventually found him.'
Pam and Jim, 73, live in a home set on 10 acres of land in the quiet rural community and managed to get a group of friends together to come and help search for their pet, a Mini Australian Shepherd dog.
They adopted the pooch five years ago. Disturbingly, Jim found a mutilated rabbit with its scalp and ears sheared off close to his home shortly before Buddy's death.
He explained: 'It had the head sliced right open and you could see the brain.'
...
Our next door neighbor, Clint, put it online after I called him to tell him what happened to Buddy. His dog went crazy that night and tore apart his bed which makes us think Buddy must have made a noise.

Anyone ever tries to hurt my dog they have big problems
The roommates probably didn’t get up until noon.
If someone did that to my pet, I would personally track them down and deal with them. Just saying.
Shades of Skin walker Ranch in Utah.
WTH did the police come right out and say something like “there is no reason for fear”?
The police just said that the call to 911 came from one of the roommates phones, but NOT from the roommate!! WHO then?
Sounds like a Charles Manson type.
It sounds like they have a sick bastard living in the area. Hopefully he runs into a person who is armed and ready for him.
Pretty much a standard rule for a Saturday morning in a college town. Nothing moves before noon…
I quoted a line from the old 55 year old Dean Martin movie ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO and was promptly given 30 days in Facebook jail.
“Lock him up We’ll hang him tomorrow right after the trial.”
Police now say other people (besides the two unharmed roommates) were in the house that morning. Maybe one of those people called from one of the roommate’s phones?
HUH??? WHO was in that house??
From this source: TIMELINE
The two surviving roommates were in the basement and slept through the murders, police said. On the morning of Nov. 13, the two roommates called friends over to their house because they thought one of the victims on the second floor had passed out and wasn't waking up, police said. At 11:58 a.m., a 911 call from one of the roommate's phones requested help for an unconscious person, police said. The 911 caller's identity has not been released but police said "multiple people talked with the 911 dispatcher."
It doesn't make sense to me, either.
SOUNDS FISHY!
The unharmed girls tried knocking and no response. Called some guys to come break it down? Then when they arrived, called 911 saying unconscious because he wasn't responding, thinking he had alcohol poisoning?
My understanding is that the roommate ran outside in terror and passed out and a passerby picked up her dropped phone to call 911 and report an unconscious person.
Adds several levels of confusion.
Maybe so... The confusing part is that the roommates didn’t notice the evidence? The murders were so gruesome that the killer(s) had to have left a mess through the house.
Then again, maybe the friends came over before anyone noticed something was wrong?
WHAT?.
