The gopher stole the show.
Ahhhmmm allriighh... no need to worry ‘bout me.
Directed (and co-written) by Harold Ramis - Igon Spengler of Ghostbusters fame and Stripes.
Ted Knight was such a great actor. He absolutely nailed the prototypical “golf club guy.”
There will never be another Rodney Dangerfield.
Adam Sandler’s movies came close (lowbrow & inconveniently funny), but his stage persona has always been very different than Dangerfield’s brand.
As funny as the cast was, the behind the camera (including writing) talent was funnier.
“Well!? Were waiting!”
My coworker and I use use this quote every time we have to deal with rush requests from other employees.
Dangerfield’s pro shop scene ( Hey, Looks good on you though!) was also an ad lib scene.
Little known fact: Ted Knight detested Dangerfield and Murray’s “unprofessionalism’.
Highly overrated. Knight and Dangerfield were great, though.
I was booooooooorn to rub you
I came to this movie late. One of my favorites! Everything & everyone works.
Sarah Holcomb was in Animal House and Caddyshack, then left Hollywood for good.
“It’s in the hole!”
So we finish the eighteenth and he’s gonna stiff me. And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.” And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.” So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.

“You’ll get nothing and like it!”
The only thing I remember besides the cute gopher was the candybar in the pool.
Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore are the best Golf Movies Ever!
Ted Knight (born Tadeusz Wladyslaw Konopka) dropped out of high school to enlist in the United States Army in WWII.
He was a member of First Army Group, A Company, 296th Combat Engineer Battalion as a radio reconnaissance operator and was among the first American troops to enter Berlin toward the end of the war. He won five Bronze Stars during his military service.
When this came out, I was a car valet at a prominent country club. It wasn’t long before some guests would tip me and say “Here, put on some weight!”
RIP HAROLD RAMIS YOU MAD GENIUS
