Bill Murray’s work was almost all ad lib. Brilliant stuff!

Dangerfield’s pro shop scene ( Hey, Looks good on you though!) was also an ad lib scene.

Little known fact: Ted Knight detested Dangerfield and Murray’s “unprofessionalism’.

I saw it on the menu on TV and was with my 20-something daughter and suggested we watch it. She thought it was funny. I had forgotten about some of the scenes with boobs - embarrassing.

I told her that IIRC Bill Murray was supposed to be in just one scene, but he was so good they put him in others, and he ad libbed most/all of it.

Perhaps his Army years as a young man contributed to Ted Knight’s focused professionalism.

People don’t know that he was in the original ‘Psycho’ movie.

I use the “hey, looks good on you” about once a month at work. So many good one liners in that movie.

I read where Ted Knight was so exasperated at times from the ad-libbing that many of the facial reactions didn’t have to be acted.
