AUSTIN, Texas – College students still trying to "shake it off" after scalpers jacked up resale tickets to Taylor Swift’s upcoming Era’s tour, sometimes hitting tens of thousands of dollars, sounded off to Fox News.
"It's just so much gluttony in the world," a University of Texas student, Leila, told Fox News.
Melis, another UT student, called the Swift resale prices "very exploitative."
"I do not agree with people that both buy tickets and then resell them and price gouge," she said.
Ticketmaster crashed after millions of buyers, including bots, flooded the site to purchase pre-sale tickets for Swift's tour — the pop star’s first in five years — with some fans coming up empty-handed after waiting for hours. Resale prices skyrocketed, hitting $23,520 for the Las Vegas show and $45,000 for the Philadelphia gig.
"I don't know how so many people that are reselling were able to get their hands on it, 'cause she did do the verified system," Kaylie, who purchased tickets for $50 a piece through a verified fan pre-sale, told Fox News.
The resale rates were prohibitive for people like Nicole, who compared the thousand-dollar prices to her housing budget.
"That's rent money," the UT student told Fox News. "If they have that much money to throw around, then they should donate it to me."
Ticketmaster, which sold tickets for Swift's tour almost exclusively along with SeatGeek, on Thursday canceled a planned public sale for tickets, citing "insufficient remaining ticket inventory." The New York Times reported that Live Nation, Ticketmaster, has been under a Department of Justice investigation that began before the Swift fiasco.

Saw Yes, in the round - 1980 - $10.
When Gen Zero is upset an angel gets its wings.
For $45,000 I can date a lot of women, none of which will write a bad breakup song about me.
FOX HAS DESCENDED INTO CNN TERRITORY.
What a shame.
Saw Yes in 1974 for $6.00
Sure - but in the round?
Saw Ann Margaret for free in 1966.
You couldn’t pay me $45k to see her.
LOL - saw that one, too.
Probably have seen Yes at least 20 times over the years - in fact just saw them a few months ago - Steve Howe never ceases to amaze. Each time the songs come to the part where he jams (e.g., the ends of Siberian Khatru, Starship Troopers, etc.) he plays it totally different - a mix of prog, jazz, rock that leaves you in awe of his creativity and skill.
I’m guessing the Biden administration is thinking about ticket cost forgiveness program.
Saw Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass that same year at the Allentown Fair.
I probably wouldn’t have fully appreciated Ann-Margaret’s talents at the time.
Since you brought her up -

Someone buying these tickets. As long as that’s happening the gouging will continue.
I passed up a free Greatful Dead concert in Eugene, OR around 1974. It was a nice day, so I went for a bicycle ride instead. Never regretted it.
Met the band after a concert when Benoît David was the lead singer. Missed out on Steve Howe - apparently doesn’t like the meet & greets.
Is there anyway to block bots on the website?
Saw Blood,Sweat and Tears free in straub park in ‘72 with my 3 y.o. on my lap. You can still see blood, sweat and tears free....in any liberal run city. Just go downtown.
Perhaps protecting his hands. Seems rather personable on stage.
When Talor Swift first came on to the scene she was promoted as this sweet country girl next door. Then her true colors began to show through. and now she is just another privileged man hating lesbian that gets away with her bullying songs because it is implied that all white men are bad and scumbags. I will not spend a dime on anything associated with Talor Swift. I also think she helped expose the country music industry as the same liberal elitists that promote up whoever meets their needs just like all other entertainment industries
Some years ago, before Taylor Swift went full lefty, I made an off the cuff comment here on FR that I didn’t find her to be particularly talented. From the responses you would have thought I’d insulted Jesus!
Now that she’s an anti-Trump progressive anybody can say anything bad about her and get nothing but pats on the back for it. I love FR. I’ve been here a long time. But the two faced bullsh*t does get tiring.
