allot harvesting.” To some, it’s a creepy term, conjuring images of hulking party machines plowing through passive fields of citizens, threshing their votes and delivering them to the ballot box. To others, the whole thing seems practically a conspiracy theory — a catch-all for sore losers who can’t understand how voters could have rejected their team.
Feelings aside, ballot harvesting is a reality for much of the country. In twenty-seven states, your ballot can be returned by someone other than you, your family member or your caregiver. Further, only twelve of those twenty-seven have any limit at all on the number of ballots a person can turn in, meaning an eager harvester can show up with dozens or hundreds of ballots.

I can’t believe that on a supposedly moral, conservative website we’re discussing how to outcheat our opponents. How far the country has fallen.
It is not cheating if the state in question has made it legal. That is the reality. Whining about the distastefulness of the practice will not end it. Winning elections allows distasteful policies to be overturned.
In the old days, that zealous mom would’ve requested absentee ballots for the family members she knew wouldn’t go. They probably would’ve signed the form, and then the eventual ballots that she had filled out for them. Now it’s just a bit easier.
“””This should be required reading”””
I would except for the paywall
It’s a matter for States, need State Legislatures, Governors and Sec. of States to step up.
In GA everyone stepped up and pretty much ended ballot harvesting in 2021. You used to be able to do mass requests for mail-in ballots via computer. That stopped. You now have to fill out a request by hand and sign it, and only the person receiving the ballot can request one.
Also, drop-box numbers and locations need to be restricted. In GA the number of drop boxes was cut way down and the drop boxes can’t be on sidewalks or street corners, need to be at a public building (only 1 in inner city ATL, at a Rec Center). Drop box hours in GA are 7AM-7PM, no more midnight box stuffing.
There was story a week or so ago where local Dem leaders in ATL said they had to go back to in-person voting, where ID is required, and there’s a paper trail. Course you still have some legit mail-ins from handicaps and seniors. In ‘rat hole Fulton County there are 750,000 registered voters, and only 23,000 mail-in ballots were counted in 2022.
Absolutely agreed. In a fair system mass mail and ballot harvesting would be illegal, but if those are the rules let’s start playing in the mud too. We gain nothing by being virtuous. If they cheat we need to cheat better. Adapt or lose.
Not really. Didn’t SCOTUS actually rule on the Arizona law in 2021 upholding the state law intended to reduce harvesting/drop box availability ?
“But now, not only moms ballot come in the mail, but her husband and two kid’s ballots do too. She of course fills out all four, voting straight democrat and sends all four-back in.”
I’m old enough to remember when voting was a PRIVATE matter. So even if Mom was a flaming Democrat, the most she could do was drag her husband to the booth. But when it was a booth, hubby cold vote Republican, just to cancel the bitch’s vote out of spite, or perhaps he wanted his boys to remain boys and his girls to remain girls. Either way, it’s HIS VOTE and only HE knows how he voted*.
So how can voting privacy now be assured? And what’s to keep a couple of DNC types from showing up at the door and ‘helping’ people fill out their ballots, or simply buying their ballots and filling them out later?
And why isn’t this being addressed by the Courts?
*Obviously we had vote-by-mail for certain groups of people, but it was maybe 5% of the voters who did that.
What you are describing is NOT an election! You are describing a contest of who can gather the most ballots for your team!
PAYWALL
Rules are rules. Ignore them and lose. Play by them and win and you get to change the rules. It is clear that there is pretty significant support for mail in voting. But there is a right way and a wrong way. To ensure it is done the right way we have to put elected officials in place to write and/or change the laws. Can’t do that in close elections by conceding part of the playing field.
Can a church ballot harvest its parishioners?
I was able to read it via RCP link. Probably you get a few for free. YMMV.

You compare the list of voters with those who haven’t voted. You approach those who haven’t voted in your party with a ballot and have them vote for your candidate. The harvester then takes your ballot to the post office or a ballot box depending on the laws in that state.
Not illegal. Not really immoral either. Find a lazy republican, of which there is no shortage of, have them fill out and sign ballot, turn it in. You're merely increasing turnout. That is a big part of what the dems are doing to win. Only 7 states mass mail ballots out so it's not like there's a billion ballots floating around to fraudulently fill in and return. CA, CO, HI, NV, OR, UT, WA
About half the states allow ballot harvesting. https://ballotpedia.org/Ballot_harvesting_(ballot_collection)_laws_by_state
If they change the speed limit on a road from 30 to 40, would you consider doing 40 to be cheating and continue to do 30?
Mail in voting also spawns voter intimidation or bribery.
Imagine if you’re a union worker in Las Vegas. The local union boss shows up at your house, with a mail in ballot, and give a high pressure talk about being a “team player.” Who are you to say no?
It does, it should not be allowed unless someone specifically requests a ballot and provides ID.
In the mean time, someone needs to take it to the supreme court that everyone needs to prove that they are the person that voted, and limit absentee to real reasons, and outlaw ‘ballot harvesting’..
