Really? McCain, Ryan and the traitors.
From an academic angle I give you credit for pointing this out. But we are comparing 2 types of electorates. Objectively today voters on average are much stupider. Even Democrat voters of the Reagan age were at least intelligent enough to discuss facts and not feelings back then. We are also witnessing a media that has gone all in with the Democrat Party. And I argue voters have made a wide swing to the left since the 1980s.
Reagan also somehow did not get blamed for continuing the destructive policy of trade with China.
So what you’re saying is Obama did one heck of a good job. LMAO
Reagan’s economy ain’t what I’m comparing Trump’s economy to. The stark difference between now and two years ago is the comparison to make. Besides a good chunk of the populace wasn’t even alive when Reagan was POTUS.
Presidents have very little direct control over how the economy is doing at the moment they are in office, other than choosing whether to crash it or not. Praising trump because the NASDAQ was doing well when he was in office is as dumb as praising Obama or Clinton for the same thing. I see very little reason to rate Trump as better than Reagan especially since time hasn’t moved far along enough for an objective comparison to be made. I’m not holding my breath.
unemployment for women - lowest EVER
unemployment for blacks - lowest EVER
unemployment for hispanics - lowest EVER
People’s “economy” - best EVER
1980’s Greatest Generation was still alive to tell boomers how its done.
2016, Boomers still around to tell Millennials how its done.
Also, is there a square cube law to economics?
I know the absolute numbers of the Stock market are much higher.
When Reagan left office , the Dow was about 2200.
This might be the dumbest vanity post I’ve ever seen..congrats
Reagan was the right President for the issues, problems, and opportunities of the 1980s.
Trump was and is the right President for the issues, problems, and opportunities of today.
Trump.
Something that never gets mentioned is that Reagan had no talk radio, no Fox News, no conservative internet and news sources/blogs/podcasts, no conservative anything, and the Republican establishment also hated him and fought him.
At the time most of us didn’t even know that republicans could ever win congress since democrat control had reached permanent status.
How Reagan turned his campaign into a win, and then 4 years later won Massachusetts, Hawaii, Vermont, Washington, New York, New Hampshire, California, Maryland, New Jersey, and Maine and everything but Mondale’s home state, is a testimony to what a unifying president he was.
I’d take either of them over ANY Democrat.
Real GDP was at an all-time high under Trump.
Unemployment and inflation were at decadal lows under Trump.
I lived (as an adult) under both. I think the economy WAS BETTER in 2019 than in ANY of Reagan’s years. So, Trump’s statement was correct.
But that doesn’t mean Trump was better at economics. Trump’s economy was still benefiting from things Reagan did… like indexing taxes to inflation, 401ks, deregulation, etc.
Again … I like both when it comes to economic policy. Although Trump was not as good at trying to control spending, neither was all that great by this one measure.
Too late! The GOP didn’t campaign these points.
Reagan was a long long time ago. Time to move on.
People under 55 or so barely know who he was.
He was a great President. But time to move on.
Loved Reagan but he never told us about the fake news and never really fought them. Reagan gave the pharmaceutical companies a pass when they passed the law that said they’re not responsible and can’t be sued. Donald Trump had the lowest gas prices in the history when you add an inflation. Lowes unemployment ever. Reagan never had everone against him. Reagan nice guy. Trump got more done.
