Speaking only for myself, the debate is over. I’m ready to consider other Republicans besides Trump.

DeSantis will never be a running mate to anyone else. Nor should he, if he has any presidential aspirations.

For as long as I can remember, running mates tend to be dull losers who could never win a presidential election on their own.

Trump might be planning on running 3rd party with a GOP candidate like Cheney opposing him. If it’s DeSantis that is a spanner in his plan.

You are obsessed with leaving forum graffiti on DeSantis as if he’s the new head of some faction of the GOP. He’s not, but that doesn’t stop certain enemy camps from using and schmoozing him.

Let’s try it again:

Why are the MSM, the Establishment GOP, the Never-Trumpers clamoring to DeSantis?

The media hates anyone that challenges them and the Democrat establishment, so it doesn’t matter whether the nominee is Trump or DeSantis. They’re going to say the nominee is “literally a Nazi.” That said, I think it’s pretty clear that DeSantis is the GOP candidate of the future, for a number of reasons...

1. Trump has a lot of baggage, and he seems unable to learn from his mistakes. He just barrels forward. He seems to be a poor judge of character. He’s vulnerable to flattery. Which often means he places his trust in the wrong people and makes bad decisions based on perceived affection. For example, Michael Cohen, Jeff Sessions, etc.

2. DeSantis is an expert on policy. Trump isn’t. DeSantis can tell you why he’s right — and why you’re wrong. DeSantis spends a lot of time researching policy. For example, during COVID, he was actively reading broad, scientific research papers. He understood the science. He ignored the groupthink, and stuck to factual research. It served him and his state well. Florida emerged as a leader from the pandemic, and it’s largely due to DeSantis’s leadership.

3. Both Trump and DeSantis can handle the media, but in very different ways. Trump goes into “fake news” and character assassination mode. DeSantis attacks the media’s assumptions. He can debate. His points are compelling. Most “journalists” don’t know how to handle him because he fires right back at them.

4. Trump has a fairly large base of supporters, but I think that a lot of them don’t really like him, personally. They simply like that he won the 2016 election. People tend to admire winners. DeSantis is actually a pretty likeable guy. He doesn’t need to attack someone’s looks or their character in an attempt to “win” an argument. Trump turns a lot of people off in a way that DeSantis doesn’t.

5. Trump operates on gut instinct. While that may serve him well in business, it often doesn’t work in politics or in areas outside Trump’s area of expertise. He doesn’t seem to take the counsel of true experts seriously. I would expect a leader to form his own opinions based on advice, but Trump often rejected good advice in favor of his gut, and it cost him dearly.

6. Trump doesn’t seem to be growing his own base of support beyond where it was in 2020. To beat the Democrats, the GOP nominee will need to find a way to appeal to independents; otherwise, they’re going to get their asses handed to them. DeSantis might be able to do that.

Just my two cents.

It's time to cut bait and move on. We need to win and we will not with Trump as the party's standard bearer.

Trump is an one time electoral winner. And that was against Hillary in 2016.

DeSantis 2024.

He doesn’t hate Ron. He sees him sort of as an ingrate. Everthing he said about Ron was factual and he owes it to Trump to sit this one out. Something Greg Kelly said and something I agree with Trump on, but in politics this happens all the time. People turn their back on you and forget what you did for them. That’s politics and remember Trump isn’t a politician. He doesn’t play by their rules or when they break their own rules he is free to point it out. Now the uniparty wants Ron to run and is ripping Trump every day. At the end of the day I don’t think Ron runs.

On the “Young Kin stuff”, take the time to understand it. Trump’s statement came out after Young Kin’s Lieutenant attacked Trump in a TV interview as the fall guy for the election and said it’s time to move on from Trump. Excuse me. Neither of them have been Governor long enough, not even a year. Trump has been warning him gently, don’t do this Glen it’s not your time. He couldn’t win without him and that is true, if he came out against him he wasn’t going to win. Now they are saying move on? Trump called into question his name. Sorry that’s not idiotic. They are asking for it. What he was getting at is his work with the Carlyle group. A private asset hedge fund ground. He’s a billionaire and a lot of the work went to the Chinese. The company CEO said they’re “committed to China.” Trump was pointing that out. It could be troublesome.

Everthing he said about Desantis was factual and measured. Especially compared to what the Deemocrats have said about each other.

Trump cultists must move on from him if we want to win in 2024.

I have an outlandish theory that Trump is already laying the groundwork to run as an independent candidate if the GOP leadership works to undermine him in 2024 ... with Tulsi Gabbard as his running mate.

The result would be the collapse of the GOP and a dem victory. Perhaps Trump is looking ahead for the next generation to create the MAGA Party as the gopers succeeded the Whigs. But I doubt it.

I dont think Trump is electable, he beat Hillary partially because she was so hated. Its harder to hate a drooling vegetable than it is a witch. Not to mention Trump doesn’t have the ability to control himself.

he owes it to Trump to sit this one out.

Nobody owes Trump squat.

We owe it to our country, to our children, to elect candidates that can win elections and Trump has demonstrated now three times in a row that he can no longer win elections.

Leftist Cheating will prevent any more Republicans from, ever, becoming president, again. Deny this all you want to, while The Left continues to win future elections, at each and every level. No Voter Integrity equals Cheating! Prove me wrong, please!

I believe it. He would serve in the role of a spoiler similar to what Ross Perot did back in 1992.
