Alec Baldwin has sued the armorer and several other crew members involved in the "Rust" production for negligence over a year after a gun he was holding discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza on a Western film set in New Mexico. In the lawsuit, Baldwin alleges that he was not responsible for the set's safety, and he did not know there were live rounds in the gun.

Presuming Baldwin didn't file this suit Pro Forma, you have to wonder whether the attorney who did file it warned him that this could come back to bite him on the tooches.
It’s been a year wouldn’t he already be charged if they were going to do something?
While not the same pistol that Baldwin used, I’ve inadvertently gotten one to behave the way his did. The leaf spring behind the hand is broken. The hand and trigger are at the mercy of gravity. I can cock the pistol and have it behave properly if it is held at or below vertical. Above vertical, the trigger does not ‘set,’ and the hammer can drop without the half-cock sear engaging. I can imagine a badly fatigued spring might behave the same way. There’s still no excuse for the live ammo on set, or the failure to use shields (which would probably not have stopped a live round) but Baldwin could be telling the truth about not pulling the trigger. I haven’t seen a report on the condition of the pistol used.
