Trump goes after Gov. Youngkin, saying his name sounds "Chinese."
Wow. GOP is making a full-court press to get rid of Trump.
This is classic Trump. He has never been any different. We don’t like him because he is suave and debonair, but because he fights. Sometimes he grates, but he does what he says he’ll do.
I only wince when he brags about the vax. I get why he does, but I wish he’d quit. I’m not throwing him under the bus for that.
Trump 2024. DeSantis 2028.
What an ignorant statement by President Trump.
I mean, really ignorant.
Lack of discipline.
Not good.
You all need to lighten up, because it's clear some of you light up.
No post on FreeRepublic should be worse than the best post by any Leftard anytime anywhere...
And yet Frank Bruni, a worthless Leftard jourolist f@gNYT, motivated by gay fear of an Obergefell overturn -- and once Roe was sent to the ash heap anything can happen -- did grok the Trump-Youngkin winning formula that a few of us on FR had been hoping for, supporting, and then joyously celebrating when the results paid off in diamonds, like Youngkin banning CRT in his first freaking week in office.
Youngkin not only won, but because of the formula, he had coattails.
"In no sane world and by no sound reading did Youngkin run without or away from Trump, though that’s one of the spins being applied to his election in a state that President Biden won by roughly 10 percentage points just a year ago. Youngkin simply chose Trump in spirit over Trump in the flesh, a Trump Lite tack sure to be mimicked by Republican candidates in the 2022 midterms and beyond.Political observers who say that Youngkin was a Never Trumper — proving the viability of that movement — are deluding themselves. He was a Stealth Trumper and Sorta Trumper who took pains not to offend or alienate Forever Trumpers.
I promise you that Ron DeSantis took note of how Youngkin used it. I promise you that every Republican Governor, Senator and House member who is up for re-election next year in a purple state or district paid heed.
They are testing the same proposition, which is that you needn’t choose between Trump sycophancy and Trump apostasy. There’s a halfway posture, a middle ground, and it can look to voters not like moral cowardice but like political prudence.
Trump allowed it. The former president was uncharacteristically even-tempered and restrained. Instead of taking offense at the distance that Youngkin kept from him, instead of taking the bait when journalists pointed that out, he professed to be unbothered. Trump claimed amity and mutual respect between the two of them. Don’t interpret Trump’s absence from Republicans’ campaigns with an absence from their calculations. Don’t overlook the homage to Trump in DeSantis’s flamboyant us-versus-them, own-the-libs theatrics: offering cash bonuses to unvaccinated police officers who relocate to Florida from blue cities or states, challenging cruise lines’ insistence that passengers be vaccinated. Trump has educated Republicans, and one of the lessons is to be more like him."
This is getting seriously disturbing
If you haven’t figured it out yet. Trump is in primary mode. He really has no choice because the donor class is already in primary mode. They’re talking to people and throwing money around.
Everything we hear of, like DeSantis having secret meetings with Ryan/McCarthy, Trump probably knows about weeks before.
The msm on both sides had all their stories ready to go for Wed morning. All the same narrative, out with Trump, in with DeSantis or anyone but Trump. I’m sure Trump heard about this narrative coming before we saw the articles.
The messaging is as unified as the early COVID days or Nov 4th 2020.
This.
Like I said on another thread it’s sad to see Trump hurting himself by doing things like this. We need him as a counterbalance to the RINOs in the party, but he seems determined to self-destruct by going after his friends rather than his foes.
He’s only convincing me more and more he doesn’t have enough self-control or awareness of the current situation in the country and the party to have a real chance of winning in 2024. I had wanted him to run again, but he’s been doing a good job of convincing me out of that.
It’s becoming comical at this point.
I’ve often described the Biden Administration as a Leslie Nielsen movie without the laughs.
Trump’s implosion is becoming a Leslie Nielsen movie WITH the laughs! 🤣
The problem is this behavior could lose the Georgia senate run off for us
> DT needs a social media filter, and it may become his undoing. <
Trump had, and has, many excellent ideas for moving the country forward. We need these ideas implemented! But by golly, it seems like he goes out of the way to shoot himself in the foot, over and over again.
Are these off-the-cuff remarks a big deal? Individually, they are not. But collectively they are a death by a thousand cuts. Mr. Trump, you really need a first-class consigliere, one who is willing to say “no” to you when necessary.
I don't think I've heard DeSantis say the name Trump since - well, Trump helped him get elected.
No question IMO but that Youngkin is a uniparty plant. And yes, he was long with the world’s largest hedge fund, deep into China financial stuff and speculated to be a CIA money-laundering front.
But Trump’s ham-handed approach may be counterproductive (whether so intended or not).
Thank you, I appreciate the information.
Unfortunately, I feel disappointed and saddened knowing it’s is real. I am afraid DJT is making himself unelectable by alienating probably a great deal of his supports with these unnecessary comments.
The Republicans will end up eating themselves alive over the next two years . . .
You know someone is not from Pennsylvania if they think Yuengling” is the newest panda at the zoo.
Part of being a fighter is k owing who to fight
Definitely
Trump is losing it, attacking our leaders out of selfish ambition.
Wonder if he noticed JD Vance thanked everyone including his mailman and dog but not Trump in his acceptance speech yet.
Wow. I am no Trump fan (not a shock) but this stuff just makes no sense. I wonder what’s going through his head?
