As an analyst and long-time election observer who has watched too many red states turn blue, I can see exactly how the midterms played out.
After watching the debacle on Tuesday night, I did my own post-mortem of what happened. I lay the blame on three major factors: The Republican elites, the American public, and early voting.
The Republican Elites
By far the most important factor is the Republican elites. In 2020, the GOPe was almost as glad as the Dems to be rid of Donald Trump, so they ignored and denied the massive vote fraud that swept Joe Biden into office.
After Biden’s many undistinguished years in the Senate, they convinced themselves that he was their friend and would work with them, in other words, “he’s one of us….” With a few notable exceptions, they went along with the Dems’ “insurrection” claptrap hoping it would vanquish Trump from the national scene for good. The GOPes ignored the effect these actions had on the Republican base, which was far more loyal to Donald Trump than to the Republican party.

The American Public
The American public, having been fed a steady diet of leftism and dumbed-down curricula from nursery school through graduate school, no longer understands civics or economics, and sees our form of government as somehow inferior to European socialism. European socialism is only made possible by the U.S. Defense umbrella in the form of NATO, but few understand that distinction.

Early Voting
Early voting is the sleeper contributor to last night’s losses. It gives both parties an advance detailed picture of how many people voted, who voted, who is likely to vote but hasn’t yet, and what party voters support or belong to.

I have another theory. The US has really become this depraved.
Bingo!
BTTT
Darn good article.

Money quote, right there. Without American GIs, Abrams, F16s & 15s, Europe would look much different.
Anyone that doesn’t think so, feel free to go live in Germany this winter. You know, those folks that laughed at Pres Trump when he called them out at the UN. Another time he was RIGHT.
The dumb downed American people are the main reason. When stupid your stupid.
Yes. And after squandering what may have been our last chance at serious reform, we have slid back and may now face judgement, as the ancient Israelis found out.
I’d say that at least 30-35% of the country has.
Another 5-10% are liberal and wealthy enough that none of these policies effect them so they’re not worried about any of them.
Gen Z turned out on abortion issue.
You left out cheating, pen name Cassandra.
And you ALMOST got it about the “elites”: they did not present a coherent message about their plans for the future other than to crow about how they were going to investigate the hell out of the dumblecrats.
I think a lot of folks are tired about the never ending “investigation” show trials that do absolutely nothing, in the end.
Mail in ballots and early votings make it easier for people who normally wouldn’t bother to vote get to vote with little or no effort. People who normally wouldn’t bother to vote generally don’t follow the news or politics (outside some jokes on reddit or tik tok vids).
The simplest explanation is that there is a thumb on the election scales.
Biden used the petroleum reserve as a political tool. He’ll shut off the spigot now and then we’ll see what the gas price might have been on election day.
In PA, MI, and AZ, of that I have no doubt.
Single women and cheating, Cassandra.
Independent voters, who give Biden a 28% approval rating and 72% of whom believe the nation is on the wrong track broke 49%-48% for the Democrats.
Aside from the overwhelming mail-in ballot fraud, that is where we lost the election.
Why did independents break for the Democrats?
Trump’s candidates did not have a coherent message.
Trump’s candidates allowed the Dems to smear them in the early weeks without a response. That cemented the early vote by mail and the negative image in the minds of independents.
Trump’s candidates did not have a coherent strategy against voting by mail. They campaigned as if it was 2016, not 2020 or 2022.
Trump’s candidates were underfunded. McConnell’s PAC gave more to Trump senate candidates than Trump gave to his endorsed senate candidates, despite Trump having raised more.
DeSantis showed how this could be done....tighten election laws, crack down on election fraud, lead boldly.
