Evidence Found at Aaron Carter's Home May Be 'Big Clue' into Deciphering How He Died

Although no formal cause of death has been given in the death of singer Aaron Carter, a report suggests an old habit of Carter’s may have resurfaced.

Carter, 34, was found dead Saturday in the bathtub of his home in Lancaster, California, north of Los Angeles.

TMZ reported Monday that police said multiple cans of compressed air were found in the former pop star’s bedroom and bathroom. Prescription pills were also found there, the report said. The site called the report “a big clue.”

The last sighting of Carter alive was at 2 a.m. Friday when his housekeeper saw him answering the door to police, who had been called to do a wellness check, TMZ reported.

The report said the housekeeper did not see Carter after that until she found his body on Saturday.

Gary Madatyan, a friend of the singer’s, said there were indications that Carter was huffing – inhaling fumes or compressed air to get high – when he toured the house, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“When I got there, the house was completely closed. We couldn’t get into the house. The police were doing the investigation and the body was still in the house,” he said, noting that he and Melanie Martin, Carter’s girlfriend, later took a look after the officers left.

“I went to his bedroom, the bedroom was normal,” he said. “I went to the bathroom where the bathtub was full of water, like, yellowish color.”

Madatyan said he saw aerosol cans in the house and he suspected Carter had been huffing.

I noticed they were selling little cans of compressed oxygen in the hardware store the other day. I thought “how long before that’s used for something bad?”

I read where the neighbors are glad he’s gone, he was a real PIA, apparently.

He’d blast music at all hours of the day and night that could be heard several houses away - when neighbors would ask him to turn it down, he’d come over to their homes screaming obscenities at them.

“‘Huffing‘ is a term commonly used among adolescent age groups, referring to the use of inhaling solvents with the intention of getting high. The technique used for huffing includes soaking a rag with inhalant that can be found in most common household items. Next steps include either putting the rag up to the face or putting the rag in the mouth.0

“Usually the effects felt from huffing can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes depending on which substance was inhaled and its quantity...”

No thank you.

It wasn’t O2 that killed him.

Probably a whole home-made pharmacopia along with some NOX.

I have no sympathy for drug users. They do it to themselves. If you ever had a neighbor who is a drug user, you know what a nightmare they can be.

I’ll tell this story...near where I grew up (rural Alabama), there were these there male teenagers (age of 15)....into huffing (this was almost twenty years ago).

The three got their bags and liquid...going down some trail about a mile from any civilization, and started huffing. Night came...relatives got worried and asked neighbors to hunt for them. Territory is all infested with snakes...no one volunteered for a evening search.

Daylight came. Only two or three were willing to volunteer. That whole day passed. No sign of the three (still huffing and passing out). Another evening arrives.

Around day three, someone finally locates the three. They aren’t in any condition to walk in their own. Rescue group spends about half the day dragging the three back to some county road.

No one ever discusses the episode after that. I don’t think any of the three graduated from high school, and I’d suspect all three today are meth or oxy-pill people.

Just today, I was spraying some of my wife’s craft doodads. Lacquer in a rattle can. I was in the garage but had to throw open both garage doors (it’s raining). I feel a headache coming on now.

I knew about a guy who worked at an auto paintshop and wouldn’t mask up. It was always kids. I can’t see an adult doing this. Maybe they die young.

I just want to say, for myself but also on behalf of all the members of this august forum who loved and cared for Mr. Carter and his transcendent works, how deeply grieved we are to learn of his passing.

Aaron Carter shone like one of those rare stars: he not only dazzled, he illuminated. He not only brought us to a greater understanding of the world around us, he brought us to a deeper sense of who we, each of us, are.

Watching and weeping along with friends and family members, it occurred to me also that the duty is upon us to be grateful - to bathe as much in gratitude as in grief - for the ways he touched us and changed our worlds.

He brought us closer together, made us whole. His works unified, exalted, magnified, and transformed. His short presence on this small, green Earth brought us closer to a sort of completeness.

As is the case with all great artists, but in Carter's case only the greatest, we ourselves are completed, in a sense, by the art. Carter not only reflected life, he created it.

Truly, he was unlike any other, and he can never, ever be replaced...

And yet his words, and his work, will endure forever,

that future generations may learn, grow, and thrive.

There is no death, really, for such a man and such work -

there is only a sloughing off of this limited, material world, and an ascension into immortality.

“..neighbors would ask him to turn it down,”

Ouch, that brought back memories. Jerry Lee Lewis lived in our neighborhood. He was prone to play piano all night, loudly. My late husband would go over and spend some time with him until he quieted down. Late husband being a fellow musician related to the urge to make music.

I’m sorry I never heard of this person. What was his contribution to the world? Just asking.
