Heavy rain soaked California's San Francisco Bay Area overnight and into Tuesday morning with the precipitation adding up to some impressive totals.
The southern part of the region saw some of the most intense rainfall with many locations across the Santa Cruz Mountains recording over 2 inches and 1 to 2 inches falling across the South Bay. The downpours led to flooding on roadways from Sunnyvale to San Jose.
The South Bay often sees less rain than other parts of the region due to the Santa Clara Valley's location on the lee side of the Santa Cruz Mountains, but that wasn't the case with this large and potent storm. "I think it's the way the system is set up," said Cindy Palmer, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. "They weren't as rain shadowed as they usually are. This was a much more dynamic system and I think it allowed the South Bay to see the higher quantities of rain."
Many locations in the East Bay saw over an inch of rain while gauges across San Francisco measured from a half inch to over 0.80 inch. Marin County and the North Bay saw a half inch to over an inch of rain, with mountains and ridgetops recorded the highest totals.

The climate is changing.
Yet still not enough to wash away the human filth that permeates that literal sewer of a city. The rain washes the feces and urine and toxins into the storm sewer system. That’s a bad thing.
Hopefully it washed all of the crap off of the streets.
First time in years it hasn’t smelled like urine.

I remember being on a project we were building in Sacramento and it rained an inch and a half. You would have thought it was the end of civilization — no one knew how to deal with a little rain.n. I don’t know what they would do if confronted by a five inch Missouri toad strangler.

And so does the weather.
Which is not actually different from the “climate”.
