Vanity: Thank you for your service, but....
11/9/2022 | By Laz A. Mataz

Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.

However, I think I’m moving on from him.

I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.

I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.

Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.

Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”

Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.

Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.

It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.

I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.

Thanks, Laz. A few grammatical errors but hey, I was furious, incautious when I wrote it

Trump also CAN NOT RESIST flattery and routinely UNWISELY succumbs to it. He lost my wife in the last week or so and that’s the political equivalent of Jesus losing ALL of the Apostles.

>>> Re your: “If Trump truly cares about the movement that he created he will bow out and endorse DeSantis.”<<<<

I agree all the eay. But sadly, Trump’s ego is bigger than his care for the movement he created. We’d all admire him for graciously bowing out, but graciousness is not one of his traits. :(

as guys like me tried our best to bring our nation to a America First position.

Really? You tried to bring Ireland to an American First position? Isn't that treason?

Kari Lake will be nowhere near a national ticket if she doesn’t win her race now.

Desantis is an almost perfect candidate to be a successful president.

DeSantis has all the qualities of a perfect GOP establishment tool. He’s basically Jeb Bush with all his chromosomes and without the toxic last name.

It's hopeful that she will.

Oh please.

Anyone who doesn’t act like a childish bully to EverTrumpers is “establishment RINO”.

Reagan is a RINO based on your silly requirements.

I just look at three basic attributes for a GOP candidate:

1. Ivy League lawyer
2. Never worked outside of government
3. Dead broke (relatively speaking)

Put this three together and you have a textbook example of an establishment tool who walks around on a dog leash and may even be permitted to be a bit of a “renegade” for a while … but will absolutely sell out on a moment’s notice and do whatever his handlers at Boeing, Raytheon, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce tell him to do.

Biden with his Labor Day’s Demonic speech, the Democrat Party and MSM successfully managed to define Republicans as being fascist and anti-democracy. If people are not turned off by the above we need to get used to losing.

Which POTUS was as successful as Trump? Look at what Trump accomplished:

Gas price per gallon was about $2.30;
Inflation about 1.4%, mortgage rates were half of what they are now;
Unemployment was low before Covid and before Blue Governors shut everything
down and we were in the midst of a V-shape recovery;
Tax decrease; tax laws promoted small businesses as well as large;
US enjoyed energy independence - No Green Agenda, no war on energy, No Paris Treaty;
No war in Ukraine; NATO paid its way;
China was quiet and we were winning the trade war;
US companies were bringing home the jobs due to tax treatment;
Peace in the Middle East aka Abraham Accords; US Embassy moved to Jerusalem; and
Iran was isolated.

Who the heck can accomplish the above while being impeached twice and investigated by Obama's Weaponized Agencies?

Everyone wants my Governor DeSantis to run for POTUS. I am not sure you sad sacks are worth Florida giving up such talent as DeSantis.
