Donald Trump is my favorite President, even more so than Ronald Reagan.
However, I think I’m moving on from him.
I like him in the role of a clarion-calling standard bearer, and his presidency was the best I have ever seen.
I don’t like him in terms of his failure to be a team player. I’m not even sure I like him as a kingmaker. Calling out numbers to make him look good, in a severely-disappointing election shows me he doesn’t care about the boots on the ground, but only how he looks.
Reagan faced the same Establishment hate and Media mocking, but he had a great way of playful rebuttal, with a twinkle in his eye and a little smile. America loved that. All the attacks mustered against him, failed, because he was able to gently turn it around on his attacker with a witty quip or a well thought out fact.
Reagan was also the author of the phrase, the 11th commandment, which was “Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
Trump, on the other hand, has a serious ego problem. He cannot resist getting into a public verbal fight with anyone who criticizes him. While this was fresh and new in 2016, and propelled him into the presidency, it doesn’t work in 2022.
Also, the way Trump fights back is not nearly as good as Reagan’s style. Trump hasn’t got the charm of Reagan, and it’s beginning to hurt our side.
It is for these reasons that I must move on from Donald Trump. Sir, thank you for your incredibly wonderful service in 2016 through 2020. You made those years prosperous and sane. But it is time to move on.
I’m likely to get a ton of flak for this post. That’s okay, I can take it.
I agree.
Totally agree with you. Time for Trump to move on.
You will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24. Get used to the idea.
Where else are you going to go?
Get a f-—ing grip.
Yep. I have for some time known that should the choice between DeSantis and Trump present itself, I would vote for DeSantis.
DeSantis is every bit as conservative on the issues as Donald Trump without the personality quirks.
I will always love Trump regardless.
Ron DeSantis is now the future...
“Thou shall not attack a fellow Republican.”
I wouldn’t have said this a week ago, but Trump is turning me off big time. He doesn’t understand how off putting his comments especially about DeSantis are.
I am in deep red Alabama. Most people I know don’t want Trump to run again. Most prefer DeSantis. I’m not sure I know anyone that wants Trump to run.
I have heard these same point from several of my friends that are ardent Trump supporters. It looks like the rank and file are starting to look ahead for new leadership.
This should be a fun thread. A select few will foam at the mouth. But you are right on the mark sir.
Noob still here?
Agreed. The three-way split in the Conservative half of America will be the undoing of America. If the RINOs, Conservatives, and Trumpers can’t come back together then we all need to be ready for president Gavin Newscum. Trust me, you DON’T want that!!
I think it is sad that so many are placing on President Trump what should be placed on our RINOs who are actually in office holding power and responsible for fostering and supporting new leaders.
President Trump is their scapegoat. It is misplaced disappointment and frustration.
Sending President Trump into the wilderness solves nothing, but organizations need scapegoats to take responsibility for the errors to feel better about themselves and absolve themselves of their own failures.
You are basing your opinion on news releases. They have been shown to be over 95 percent negative toward Trump.
You should be happy to have been convinced by the Democrats.
I look at it slightly differently - Trump will be 78 in 2024. He will hit “the wall” soon. I like what he did for 3/4 of his term but the Covid response was a trap and he walked into it. He also had trouble with keeping a loyal staff. He’s a lightning rod, which we needed to refocus the country. Would he win in 2024? Well, to be honest - if the Dems squeak this one out and double down the last two years, things will be so awful in the USA that he just might, and yugely so. If the GOP gets the Congress but nothing can be done to stop FJB from ruling by fiat, then the media can just blame the Congress in 2024 for the state of the country.
Until we address the media - nothing will matter.
MAGA DITTOS...
Read the room. Read the thread. You’re in the minority and your minority is slowly shriveling. Prepare to be reconstructed.
You have eloquently put into words feelings I have had about him lately. His snide comments about DeSantis sort of pulled the trigger for me.
Trump is running in '24. Desantis will get crushed if he tries to go against Trump.
You will be voting for Trump in Nov. ‘24.
Get used to the idea.
Where else are you going to go?
