Why the red tsunami seems to have hit only Florida

As vote counts continue to be posted, it is clear that Republican hopes and dreams of a huge wave election have been dashed. Instead of a large House majority and solid control of the Senate, Republicans will be lucky to have small majorities in each chamber, and even that outcome is not secure at this moment.

But in one state, Florida, Republicans have triumphed in tsunami-like proportions. With 98% of the vote counted, Marco Rubio has a 16.4% landslide lead over Senate challenger Val Demings, and Governor Ron DeSantis has a 19.4% lead, a gigantic increase over his fraction of one percent squeaker victory 4 years ago.

It’s going to take some time to figure out why the rest of the country isn’t behaving like the Sunshine State, but 3 factors suggest themselves.

Ron DeSantis displayed gutsy leadership in confronting Covid, enduring taunts as “DeathSantis” and far worse, as he refused to cower before the might of Dr. Fauci, the medical establishment, Big Pharma, the media, and Democrat politicians. As a result, Florida prospered as other states closed down their businesses and schools. (The other governor who resisted the panic, South Dakota’s Kristi Noem won with an even bigger margin: 26.8 points with 97% of the vote counted.) Note the sign on his podium as he addressed supporters at his campaign headquarters in the wake of his victory, with his cancer-survivor wife at his side:

No doubt. It’s all too easy to slip bogus ballots into the stream that were mailed to phony addresses, etc., or for a conniving postal worker to take them home, steam them open and replace the true ballots with D ballots.

There are some security measures such as signature pages, but if the signature page isn’t the actual ballot, then the steaming route becomes possible.

Maybe so, but when the Democrats become Communists, perhaps it is best to get out of the states where they are assuming control and shore up the states where they usually do not have control.

My old state of Maryland, of course, is hopeless. The smooth-talking Wes Moore (D/Commie) beat Dan Cox (R/Relatively Conservative) for governor last night. I’m glad I got out of there last year, since my vote would typically be mostly meaningless, anyhow.

Florida needs to prepare for a lot more people leaving blue states and going there.

Texas also.

The black voters really believe that the GOP will take their right to vote away.

The point I was making is that voting will never fix things.

I live in Florida so I will continue to vote for now. In any other state I wouldn’t bother anymore.

Early voting and mail-in ballots help the Democrats. There are massive numbers of Republican voters who blindly help them.

That’s part of it, but Ron is also an actual fighter. Prior to the election, I was getting at least 2 mailers PER DAY in my mailbox from his campaign or surrogates. He was already cruising to victory, but like most DEMOCRATS, he was campaigning as though he were 10 points behind. If more GOP fought like Democrats, we would have been in much better shape last night.

And until we ditch RCV, RCV-enabled voting machines, end mail-in voting, and early voting we will NOT restore out republic.

What’s the normal spread on mail-ins? That does sound rather high, but I can’t be sure of anything about the breakdown of those who can’t be bothered to actually go to the polls.

Yep. We might have a more solid win if he hadn’t opened his big mouth and talked about a federal abortion restriction.

I believe governors should be elected the same way president’s are. With each county getting an equal vote regardless of their population density.

Senators should be appointed by the state legislature who were elected by the people.

Cities are killing America.

I think the states with mass mail in ballots are enabling democRAT cheating.

Cheating or not, Democrats campaigned as if voting started with the date of mail-in ballots. Republicans were silent this summer as Rats got out their vote using the abortion issue. The Rats spent money on ads, Republicans did not. Republicans waited until after Labor Day. Rats avoided debating. They hid behind their ads.

Republicans need to start making their arguments and come up with a unified strategy for 2024. That begins now. Present solutions, not platitudes. By the way, the number one issue will be the economy in 2024.

Is there anyone here who can look at this objectively without the lame excuses? Sound like a bunch of kindergarteners.

The election wasn’t stolen - the fix wasn’t in. GOP candidates in lean/likely DEM territory lost - not all that surprising.

It’s a 50/50 nation, that hasn’t changed - yet.

Most of them are ignoramuses who will never wise up.
They would re-elect that freak Lightfoot tomorrow on the bodies of dead black kids her policies created. They won’t even vote for a bright black guy running for Senate in Georgia. Most are voting for a racist commie with a DemocRat label. Among stupid American voters, they are a stand out

those people went to Florida and Texas and the Carolinas in the last number of years.

A lot of them moved to Florida. Some of them moved to the Carolinas and Texas. But so did the Liberals.

Because FL didn’t experience the massive election, ballot and voter fraud that occurred everywhere else. End of story.

That's what we're facing. Notice that DeSantis turned away the DOJ "election monitors" as well.

My theory is that the Democrats have lost the hispanic vote and the Black vote is apathetic at best. So their only resort is massive cheating. Since nobody does anything about that in Democrat-run states and cities, they generate all the fake votes they need to win.

There was no way the DEMS could have engineered voter fraud in Florida, DeSantis was a shoe-in and not worth the risk. So they targeted close races where cheating would have been easier and less obvious. If DeSantis took Miami-Dade, why did the Tsunami stop there, it is nonsensical.

What a joke this election was after all the hype and posturing by GOP candidates only to mostly fall flat on their faces into the big blue mud puddle.
