More than 40 African-American political leaders are demanding a meeting with MSNBC president Rashida Jones over the network’s decision not to renew weekend host Tiffany Cross’ show.
In a letter circulated in recent days and obtained by Semafor, civil rights figures including NAACP president Derrick Johnson and Color of Change president Rashad Robinson, as well as media personalities including the former ESPN commentator Jemele Hill criticized Jones for the move. The letter requests a meeting to “discuss a path forward that is restorative to the reputation and dignity of Ms. Cross.”
“We are deeply disappointed in the abrupt cancellation of the Cross Connection and the unexpected ouster of its host, just four days before a critical midterm election,” the letter says.
The letter also admonishes the network for not renewing Cross after she was the subject of a lengthy recent segment on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show in which he described her rhetoric as “genocidal talk.”
“His intentional misrepresentation of her platform amounted to no less than a direct attack, and should have engendered immediate defense and support of Ms. Cross by her parent network. Instead, it appears that NBCUniversal has allowed Fox News to dictate its hiring and unwarranted firing decisions. We cannot afford to be bullied by those who willingly and wantonly drag this country backwards," the signatories write.

“Black leaders”.....oxymoron.
This might be a problem if anyone watched MSNBC
MSNBC is being accused of racism??? The same MSNBC which Prides itself on being so liberal?? What is this world coming to???
Im offended too...let the protests get very heated...they should not let MSNBC off easy
Hmmmm! Heard they didn’t renew the contract. Not the same as being fired.
Maybe some of these people think that there’s a constitutional right to have a program on a national TV network.
And such people would not understand the distinction between being terminated and having a contract expire and not having that contract renewed.
All of us understand that difference, some people apparently think that she was fired. And because she’s a member of a recognized grievance group, that grievance group will naturally think the there was discrimination involved.
So, what did Cross say?
ReEEee Ree ReeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
If our side any political strategy instincts we would be inciting and igniting this black anger into fury.
Get them replying to statements from each other and make ultimatums that neither side will back down no matter what.
Racist scum come out barking.
This is just ridiculous! Where in the he*l is there a law that says black people can’t be fired or not having their contract renewed, especially when that black person does’ nothing but call all white people racists? You know I am so sick of these people thinking they have the right to demand a private company has to keep them employed no matter what.
Maybe BET is hiring? I still don’t see any all white stations ..wait Telemundo? I hear hispanics are now white?
Not only can they not vote properly, they now have a weird understanding of how a contract works. The woman worked for two years on a contract. The contract was up and the network decided not to do another contract. Both parties fulfilled the contract. end of story.
Republican politicians need to speak up about this overt racism. (Wink, wink) They might not agree with Tiffany, but they will fight to their deaths defending Tiffany’s right to be heard.
“Black leaders”.....oxymoron.
True.
