You forgot about $1 million in bitcoin….just in case. Lol.
10 tickets, 1 in 29.2 million. You can’t win if you don’t play.
Spending THAT much money would take a significant effort.
Well bad financial advisors, embezzlement, and tons of relatives coming out of the woodwork could help. I do believe many lottery winners go on to bankruptcy, but I don’t know how high a win that goes up to.
You should have seen the calls to our office from “friends and relatives.”
I told our operators to point out if the callers were THAT close, they probably have her number. Lol
Money makes people crazy.
i havent read up on all the details of the “lottery lawyer” who helped many high dollar jackpot winners but I think he was involved with the mob somehow in ripping people off.
If one person wins this jackpot his/her life is about to become a nightmare if it is not kept completely secret. Btw, I think you can set up an LLC in Missouri and not have to name anyone and dont have to file annual reports. Can’t remember details
This jackpot is so insane that people posting on a lottery website are now talking about the suit that sued the devil. Had never heard of this one:
“In 1971 a plaintiff filed a pauper’s suit in U.S. District Court, on behalf of himself and all other similarly situated, against Satan and his servants. Plaintiff alleged that Satan had “threatened him, caused him misery, impeded his course in life, and generally precipitated his downfall”. His suit was unsuccessful, the court denying him relief on the grounds that (a) it had “serious doubts that the complaint reveals a cause of action upon which relief can be granted”; (b) there were no showing that the defendant resided in the district; and (c) if allowed, the Court could not determine if the plaintiff would “fairly protect the interests of the class”. The Court also noted the plaintiff had not provided instructions as to how to serve process upon the defendant. The case may be found at U.S. ex rel. Gerald Mayo v. Satan And His Staff, 54 F.R.D. 282 (1971)”
I am wise enough to know that everything comes with a price. If you pay the tab, everyone expects you to do it. When you don’t, they hate you. If you give your sibling $100k, they want to know why it wasn’t $500k. If you want to help people, match what they have. Make them put some skin in the game. Make them put forth some effort.
My experience is that giving people money rarely turns out well. Money comes from work
Doesn’t the initial buy of 2 dollar ticket the government takes 1 dollar, half for the schools? That leaves 1/2 for the winnings?

How the money is allocated depends on the state, but in terms of taxes to the winner, it’s just $1, not an additional 25%. On buyers of tickets in total, its about 75% going to state and federal taxes one way or the other. That’s why I don’t buy until the NPV is > $2 per ticket after tax, which it is now.
One winner in California. ONE winner of $2 billion, I can’t believe it!
