Former Twitter employees air their grievances after Elon Musk's mass firings

Layoffs appear to cover a wide range of departments, with those in engineering, human resources, policy, content moderation, and more chiming in about their new unemployed status.

MANY TWEETS AT LINK.....................

On Friday, now-former Twitter employees took to the social media platform to document their firing as new owner Elon Musk clears house.

Employees wrote of their job status in the hashtags "Love Where You Worked" and "One Team," calling it "dehumanizing," and calling out Elon Musk for the action.

Others vowed to take legal action against the social media company for being laid off.

Some former Twitter employees and others sympathetic towards their sudden job loss noted California's Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, which requires a 60-day notice from employers before a mass layoff or relocation. The Act requires notice of a layoff in advance if more than 50 percent of the workforce is laid off.

It was revealed on Thursday that Musk would be laying off many of the nearly 7,500 staff members. A letter stated that employees were to go home and not return to the office on Friday as cuts proceeded. The total number of layoffs was not included in that letter.

Other Twitter users celebrated the layoffs, with some noting that the entire process of Musk buying Twitter began earlier this year with the Babylon Bee making a joke about United States Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, and others noting how people who were fired for violating vaccine mandates were not given the same sympathy as those who have been removed from Twitter.

I’ve been laid off in the past and know many others who have been laid off too. Every separation package I’ve ever seen has had a clause preventing any negative public comments about the company for a period of time, usually two years. These people are putting any separation package at risk.

You are free to say anything you want about the company as long as it is legal, but you must agree to the terms to get the package. If you take the package and violate the terms the company can recover the payout.

You’re right. If they don’t like it, they can build their own Twitter.

"For the last six years I have worked in this miserable workplace and kept wishing I could only find another place to work. I have been so miserable. And Elon Musk is to blame!"

These people are nuts. They are getting a severance and they are tweeting in a way that they can be identified? Crazy.

What this really comes down to is that Twitter is probably going to operate pretty well with less people - and they don’t like that at all.

What I’m hearing is 90 days of pay without working. Separation date of Feb. 2, 2023. Their accounts are locked, but they are still being paid.

Maybe Musk could allow them 30 minutes in the safe rooms so they can collect the Pla-Doh, coloring books, and Teddy besrs.

And it sounds like these little snots have no skill sets. Being obnoxious and hateful aren’t positives on a resume.

I guess it might be that that’s not actually severance pay. Maybe that kicks in with each individual once the 90 days is up. So these guys will be able to pay their bills, even though their Twitter accounts are locked.

My husband wasn’t so fortunate. He had two weeks of pay, because he had already worked those hours. Then his severance kicked in, 60 days, and we had to make do with that. Couldn’t file for unemployment because that would negate the severance.

We learned a few lessons, but we are better off since then. Tightened our belts, and they’ve stayed pretty tightened since then. This is very generous of Musk.

Boo hoo. Many people have lost their jobs for their non-PC views. Twitter was part of the problem. I shed no tears for the people who got paid for canceling people.

So they took to Twitter to complain about being laid off from Twitter. I’m not sure but I’ve got a dictionary around here that says that’s the very definition of irony.

Perhaps they could become machinists or welders or carpenters; maybe plumbers or electricians, farmers, truck drivers, locomotive engineers...you know: someone productive.

Years ago a coworker explained that he wouldn't take the severance package so as to make it look like he was smart enough to leave before everything crashed.

It worked. He was the only one on his team to go right into his next company in a position everyone else on his team wanted.
