Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after being spared the death penalty by three merciful jurors last month.
Cruz, 24, was emotionless in court on Wednesday as the parents and siblings of his victims wept all around him.
Many of those parents spoke today to blast the defense team who defended Cruz for their 'offensive' behavior in court and to beg the judge to put Cruz in general population. Some called for other inmates to 'exercise the judgement that the court can't' and kill Cruz in custody.
Judge Elizabeth Scherer thanked the parents for being 'strong and patient' throughout the sentencing phase of the trial before handing down the term.
She was powerless under the law and could only impose a maximum term of life in prison.
Scherer froze Cruz's commissary until restitution is paid, meaning he cannot benefit from any money donated to his prison account.
Cruz had been facing execution, which the victims families wanted, but a lone, hold-out juror decided against it.
They persuaded two others jurors to vote against executing him - a decision that horrified the families, many of whom had been told not to show their emotions throughout the trial.
On Wednesday, some of told of their hope that Cruz will be murdered in jail.

Five weeks tops before he gets a date with the coroner.
When the system breaks down and there is no money to pay to run the prisons then all these people will be let go.
he’ll be the little bitch of his ward
Dealing with Cruz is only a small part of the larger problem, which is nationwide.
This book, co-written by a father of one of those killed, lays out why.

“””Emotionless Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz is sentenced to life in prison without parole”””
Cruz was emotionless because he is being given major medications by the jail doctors.
Whether the Florida Prison System continues to give him brain numbing medications remains to be seen.
“””Question. If you were a member of one of victim families would you be plotting revenge?”””
The comments from Joaquin Oliver’s father certainly implied that he had the connections to take out Cruz while he is in prison.
“””I’m backing up that juror and really he did everyone in there a favor.”””
I agree on two basis:
1. It takes upwards of 20 years to finally execute a killer.
2. With a life sentence there is no future appeal. Thus, locking out the public defenders from getting money from the Florida taxpayers to make those appeals.
Perhaps the term these days is “Epsteined”:
The victims need to make it known that they’ll make sure the murderer(s) have unlimited commissary money at the prison for the next 5 years. That should do it.
How long did Dahmer last?
Not to worry. He will be accidentally hurt beyond repair.
Throw him with the general population. He will make a good wife.
Richard Speck is the reason why you don’t give people life sentences. He was the person that killed a bunch of nurses up in the Boston area.
He went to prison, he liked prison sex, he had hormones to grow titty, he got all the drugs he wanted, and all the sex that he needed and he absolutely loved it.
this case.....well, its just that smart mouthed ass defense attorneys will use this case as an example of why their clients shouldn't get the DP...
"if he killed 17 people and he only got life then my client should only get life for killing 10 people"
All of what you said could have happened with a verdict deserving the death penalty.
And it would have been better if he knew he was going into that cell and would never leave alive.
And if that sentence were to be carried out in a year or two, all the better.
As others have said, if this isn’t a case deserving the death penalty, then there is no true punishment for capital crimes. And if that is the case, yes, it sounds like jury nullification from some simp leftist.
Yes. He is emotionless. That is almost the defining characteristic of a psychopath.
I certainly wish you were correct.
Unfortunately, history dictates that I should take the over.
Mark me down for $20.
When he is still alive in 6 weeks I’ll find someone in the same general population wing and add money to their books.
Law in the courts, justice in the yard.

I like the way you think.
Too long.
much too long.
If Cruz is in the GP, his days are numbered.
Maybe a year tops.
