I am old enough to remember when the Redskins were the toast of DC. RFK would literally rock during big games. All the DC politicos would pull favors to get tickets. If I remember right, the waiting list for season tickets was measured in decades. The downfall started when Jack Kent Cook moved to soulless Laurel, MD. Once Snyder got his hand on the team it has been a Fall on par with Rome. Snyder got lucky being one of the first generation Dot.com billionaires with along with Mark Cuban. After that he had sucked every last cent out of the Skins. The best conteast is his nine figure yacht on the Chesapeake while the team and facilities are dumps and dumpster fires.

I was never much of a Redskins fan, but they were a good team back in the day. Not feeling sorry for Dan Snyder one bit because it sounds as though he is quite a jerk. That’s not to say that jerks shouldn’t own teams, but they shouldn’t mismanage them the way Snyder has mismanaged Washington.

In August, 1979, I was riding the DC Metro (subway) along with a number of Redskins fans who were headed to a pre-season game at DC Stadium. This wasn't even a regular season game, but they were bursting with enthusiasm. At one point, they started singing the team's theme song, "Hail to the Redskins."

How many fans of other NFL teams know their team's theme song? The theme song for my home team, the LA Rams, sounds like a TV game show theme and I don't think it even has lyrics.
