France demands Rumble video stop Broadcasting Russian News Sources, Rumble turns France off instead
Rumble CEO ^

Posted on 11/01/2022 2:16:38 PM PDT by janetjanet998

The French Government has demanded that Rumble ( @rumblevideo ) block Russian news sources. Like @elonmusk , I won't move our goal posts for any foreign government.

Rumble will turn off France entirely (France isn't material to us) and we will challenge the legality of this demand.

Think how important this story is. France, like all EU states, *legally barred* any platform from airing RT or other Russian outlets even if those platforms with to. It’s legally required to censor it.

France demanded Rumble obey, if though Rumble isn’t a French company....

Rather than obey France’s censorship order, Rumble turned its services off for France and will sue. If French people are happy being blocked from information Macron and EU want to ban, good for them.

But France should have no right to impose its censorship laws on the world.

UPDATE: Thank you Starlink & Elon Musk for making free speech stronger. Rumble Cloud has officially begun peering with Starlink, meaning users of both Starlink and Rumble around the world will have less risk of censorship.

Rumble Severs Business Ties with Unruly Group and Tremor International (TRMR)

TORONTO, Dec. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Today, the video platform Rumble announced the termination of its relationship with the Unruly Group and Tremor International after they attempted to censor Dan Bongino,

Citing vague complaints from unnamed “partners,” Tremor attempted to censor Bongino by removing advertisements from his websites and Rumble’s hosted video player.

They wanted to censor Bongino for Covid “misinformation” so Rumble canceled the whole adgency from Rumble instead

Rumble is now Beta testing it’s own Google ad sense clone for 3rd party websites .. Truth Social is their first Customer

VERY interesting. I know there were things floating around about them partnering but didn’t realize they did.

The thing is that at least the English language version of RT is closer to an aggregator of news, rather than a source. They do a few things, like actually report on what is going on in Russia, particularly what the government there is saying, as opposed to what the Neocons on CNN are saying about the Russians. They’re also quite good at aggregating stories showing the PURE IDIOCY of the West, whether it’s Lea Thomas, or the UK blowing up more coal power plants.

They also try to report in an unbiased way, so instead of saying “Trump’s false claims of election fraud”, as the Neocon-controlled news outlets like CNN say, they’ll simply say “Trump’s claims of election fraud”...and let the reader decide if they’re false. And they include both sides - if the West disputes something that Russia says, they’ll include the Western reply.

To put it another way, RT is MUCH CLOSER to what the Western Media was during the Cold War, while Western Media, today, is much more like the Soviet Union...right down to SILENCING opposing views.

True. And the comments on RT let very critical comments about Russia from the peanut gallery stay up.

“True. And the comments on RT let very critical comments about Russia from the peanut gallery stay up.”

Good point...they pretty much let all of the non-bot comments through, but understandably the majority of them are pro-Russian.

Rumble/Locals are the good guys.

Rumble has also built extensive server capacity for cloud storage so they can service other online businesses if Amazon tries to cut them off like they did Parler.

Twitter does not have a video function and needs one....like Periscope used to be. As part of Musk’s drive to make twitter an all-in-one app for payments, video, etc it looks like he and Rumble are partnering up. Rumble could provide Twitter that capability.

Its especially helpful that one of Musk’s other companies - Space X - has Starlink which can be used to reinforce Rumble.

Starlink + Twitter, with Rumble running the BigBit Backroom, sounds like a start for some vertical integration.
