I’ve done this before when calling the police to resolve a dispute with some young neighborhood bullies. It was clear their mother was enabling them. After getting the punk’s side of the story, the cops came over to me. We milled it over and I pointed out to the 2 officers that the kids and their family were psychologically relishing the whole event. They were waiting expectantly at their front door for more. I suggested that the best we could do is shock them by denying them that. We do the unexpected by disbursing and leave them standing there with nothing as they watch us walk away. The cops looked at each other with big grins on their face, then without another word got in their cars and drove away. I walked home and the trouble makers were left standing there confused. Try dealing out some psychological warfare. It can be fun.
