Quite some time ago I worked on cryogenic amplifiers that required immersion in liquid helium surrounded with a blanket of liquid nitrogen.
That’s what it takes to reach near absolute zero temperatures. Totally impractical for application in the real world.
So I read this article (yes it is mostly over my head too) and it looks like we have on our hands quantum effects at room temperature. I think this could be a really big deal. The scientists seem confident. Now what we need is for them to develop a practical computing device and show us why it is revolutionary.
