Bronze Age gold belt with 'cosmological' designs unearthed in Czech beet field

The ornate object was covered in dirt but well preserved, inspiring the farmer, who wishes to remain anonymous, to send photos to archaeologists at the nearby Silesian Museum in Opava.

Jiří Juchelka(opens in new tab), head of the Silesian Museum's archaeology department, told Radio Prague International(opens in new tab) (RPI) that the 20-inch-long (51 centimeters) object — made out of gold with inclusions of silver, copper and iron — was likely the front of a leather belt. "It is decorated with raised concentric circles and topped with rose-shaped clasps at the end,"

Based on the style of the decoration, she estimated that the gold belt dates to the middle to late Bronze Age, around the 14th century B.C.

Central Europe during this time (2000 B.C. to 1200 B.C(opens in new tab).) was an amalgamation of different cultures connected by a vast exchange network. Supported by subsistence farmers who grew wheat and barley and kept domesticated livestock, society became more complex, with a hierarchy forming between the poor farmers and the wealthy political and economic elite. Archaeological evidence points to people living in timber-frame houses early in the Bronze Age and transitioning to larger settlements by the middle of the time period.

While the Bronze Age is known for its abundance of bronze artifacts, raw materials such as gold were also traded and made into prestigious items for the elite. Archaeologists have found gold objects in high-status graves in Bronze Age Central Europe. But gold items also have been discovered in hoards in special, isolated locations, suggesting a kind of gift exchange between the cultural elite and the supernatural.

Some Minoan art, from that period or slightly earlier, also has amazing fine detail—you wonder how the craftsman could manage to do it without magnifying glasses.

See?? Even those advanced civilization aliens couldn’t get their circles concentric!

That is the fault of me, the image chooser. There were a lot of astonishingly symmetrical crop circles shown, but many seemed to be drone images from directly overhead that made it hard to tell they were actually cut into crop fields.

I have no position on the matter whether such large images are alien-generated or not; but whomever did them, many are amazingly precise. Example (those little dots are people walking around in it):

They are amazing, aren’t they? And aren’t they always done at night with no apparent way in or out of the field, no visibly lights from people at work, no footprints?

Of course, on the down side, the curly-a’s through curly-p’s have failed to survive.

My brain is already too crowded with conspiracy theories even to contemplate crop circles. But whoever does them, good job!

It is impressive. For the concentric circles I speculate he used something like a compass.

Gotta love that little curlicue...

Can you imagine the embarrassment of the aliens, if they’d crossed light years of space, only to find we didn’t have wheat fields for communication with us?

all it takes is a 3 point triangulation/gps system. they use them in large commercial building projects like Casinos etc for the art work on the floor for tile and marble. pin point accuracy. And a lawn mower with auto pilot!!

DGPS? Railroads, barges, Fleet vehicles and mega-farm field equipment all employ the technology. The Coast Guard runs it.

didnt know the exact term for it. the closest i’ve come to it is telling the General on the jobs I need bench marks pinned for yada yada page of the lobby... or particular room! come in the next day and see the nail pins sticking out of floor with an Orange circle spray painted around them!

half the lobby is cut off but this pic can give you an idea of what is involved. doing the math and layout going off other peoples work(Walls out of square etc) can be a nightmare! these cats come it and shoot and pin all the working points you need and they have fun doing it!! I did this lobby 10 years ago+-... all the 3/4 marble is water jet cut, but working points are still critical. you dont wanna find out you have to shift it all because it’s an 8th or a 1/4” out when half the floor is down!!

Hollywood Casino Columbus Ohio...
