Master blenders sometimes conduct tasting sessions to gauge agedness, but this process can be labor intensive. And a lot of fun.

I'm just gonna admit it, I'm a fan of Evan Williams.
I don't understand how they get away with selling it as bottom shelf swill.
It's good stuff! Aged 5-7 year, 86 proof. I'll take to over Jim Beam and Jack Daniels.
But my first favorite whiskey is Jim Beam Black. Unfortunately, Biden's inflation has made it a bit cost prohibitive.
It actually hasn't gone up in price. Still $47/1.75. Unfortunately, everything else has gone up in price so now I'm trying to save $20.
Evan Williams!

Sounds to me like an over tasted beer taster thought up a way to get his hands on some gold.

My experience is that after drinking about a half a bottle of whisky, vodka or rum... My interest in what brand it is dissipates... As long as I’m drunk... I’m good.

I shall offer my services to all distilleries in Scotland as a “Master Taster of Single Malt.” I work cheap but demand the services of a driver. DWI in Scotland is expensive. That blended crap is be judged by one of a lesser palate, not I.

Costco has their own brand whiskeys that is really good. And the Kirkland Vodka is just Grey Goose at about 1/4 the cost.

Evan Williams Bottled and Bond is even better and only a bit more expensive. Is that the 100 proof one? It was too strong for me.

Maybe. I was also gonna recommend Wild Turkey 101, but I guess you prefer smoother stuff.
You can often get Buffalo Trace for under $20 a bottle for 750ml. That's a nice smooth drink.
