Biden Has Unleashed The Regulatory Leviathan: Report
Issues & Insights ^ | 26 Oct, 2022 | I & I Editorial Board

Voters who think that putting Republicans in control of the House and Senate will make a big difference for the economy are in for a rude awakening. President Joe Biden has unleashed the regulatory Leviathan. Lawmakers will be hard-pressed to stop the damage.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) just this morning released its hugely valuable report called “10,000 Commandments,” which is a compendium of the regulatory state. In it, CEI Vice President for Policy Clyde Wayne Crews lays out the terrible truth about Biden’s regulatory zeal.

The first thing you have to understand about federal regulation is how massive it already is, with compliance costs that total more than $1.9 trillion a year.

That’s bigger than Canada’s entire GDP. It’s bigger, in fact, than all but seven nations in the world. It works out to almost $15,000 per household.

And it is growing at a ferocious pace. From 1995 to last year, regulators issued a total of 114,821 new rules.

The cost of complying with this mountain of mandates is on top of the $6.3 trillion the feds spent this year, which means the true cost of government equals roughly a third of the nation’s economy.

Some Republican presidents have tried to whittle this down, but Democratic administrations always come into office well prepared to reinvigorate regulators.

How do you get untangled from the entrenched bureaucracy?

Republicans, who are most all progressives also, just like to trim around the edges, if they do any trimming at all.

Entire agencies need to be eliminated - pulled out, root and all.

What the left can’t seem to understand is that when government gets active, businesses get passive.

Oh, no - they understand this perfectly well.

You stop funding it or limit that funding. Cut back their GS scale pay increases and make them contribute far more for their lucrative pensions. You also break up the agencies, merge them and/or require them to relocate out of DC, further destabilizing them. There are a myriad of weapons available that our RINOs will never employ. Its sad that they aren’t as vicious or committed to a cause like the Democrats are.

All of this can be stopped by a congressional refusal to fund the agencies. No money = no regulatory enforcement.

Starve these agencies of cash and they are neutered.

One way. Destroy it and start over.

That is the only thing that will work.

And the tax code mirrors this. Incestuous villians in congress. The more complicated it is, the more need for their ilk brethren lawyers and easier for the new 87K IRS agents to get their bonuses by finding obscure “problems” in tax filings.

Yet the populous continues to vote democrat and drive the get away car for the cheaters.

Burn it down to the last molecule and REFUSE to ‘replace’ the monstrosity with anything similar.

People form a government and it is like the cute puppy that does some important stuff, but its a puppy, so its nothing to worry about. Take a closer look. Its an Saint Bernard puppy and before you know it, no longer cute. No longer an innocuous entity that few ever have direct contact with. It’s huge, hungry, only getting bigger, dangerous, and unpredictable. It might be getting rabid...

All governments are carnivorous animals. And need to be taken out decisively on a regular basis.

This is all part and parcel of what the Democrats want to do to our economy!

Obama said America was on the decline and a Democrat would be best to guide us through this decline...he meant HELP MAKE THE DECLINE HAPPEN!

They want to slow our economy, and destroy our abilities to be the world leaders that we are - PERIOD!

You ask why? Because tyrants can’t take over a free, leading people...only a people who are lost in despair to their surroundings and their fate will accept the graceous offerings of chains in exchange for food, housing, healthcare, and a small stipend!!

"All of this can be stopped by a congressional refusal to fund the agencies."

For a post-mid-term-election Republican-controlled congress to do that, medical science will first have to perfect testicular and spinal transplants.

History repeats itself. Take heed.

“He has erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harrass our People, and eat out their Substance.”

Trump was trying to deregulate, which is why so many RINOs hated him. Well, another of the reasons why RINOs hated Trump.

I had high hopes in 2016 that Trump would tear through the Cabinet Room like a D-11 with a ripper blade. I wanted to see blood, teeth and hair smeared all over the walls. Sadly, for any number of reasons, the first non-career politician President of my lifetime since Ike wasn’t able to accomplish this.
Perhaps he will in his next term (if he gets one), but at 78 I doubt I will be around to see it.
