Oh my goodness! What a nightmare for the family of the delivery person.
I’m going to blindly guess pit bulls, or pit bull mix.
Of course there are other dangerous breeds...
The opening sentence of this report sounds like the dogs were murdered.
This is awful.
Over/under on the breed?
Just wondering if the delivery was on behalf of Chewy.
Get between a couple of canines and their Chewy, and who knows what can happen.
I’m guessing pit bulls or Rottweilers. I’m surprised this kind of thing doesn’t happen more often.
Is pepper spray or anything short of a gun useful against pit bulls?
Horrible. As someone else said, I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Stories like this hit close to home. We have neighbors who used to let their three pit bulls run loose. One tried to bite a delivery guy’s butt and all three chased a kid on his bike. The police said the dogs had to be chained/penned or be destroyed. I wish they’d just destroyed them. The dogs still get loose occasionally, and it’s nerve-racking not knowing when a pit bull might come out to greet you. Of course, the people are typical pit owners - “But they’re the sweetest dogs!!”
Oh, that is just awful. Prayers for this poor soul and family. Someone just trying to make an honest wage. :(
The owners of these vicious dogs need to be punished harshly - I’m reading about this far too often lately.
One of my neighbors lost his dog after an attack by an off-leash dog while he was walking in the neighborhood. Another neighbor doesn’t go out w/0 pepper spray on her leash b/c of too many idiots letting their dogs loose, which is illegal in my city.
Did amazon dock his pay for not meeting his quota?
We have acquaintances that live on a large property in a desert area where there are a lot of coyotes. They got two pit bulls to keep the coyotes off of their property and away from their pets and grandchildren.
They could not get insurance on their home.
The neighbors even came over and said they were glad the dogs were they b/c they kept coyotes off of their property too.
Still, every insurance company said no.
You just can’t be too careful around cocker spaniels.
I can tell you from experience that delivery drivers do not heed beware of dog signs even when clearly posted. They have some idea they are exempt. There may be more to this story.
The picture at the link would indicate that this was not in a well developed area...maybe no neighbors close by to hear/see what was happening? I can’t imagine if there were neighbors, they wouldn’t have called 911 or taken steps to protect the driver themselves. If it was that isolated, I would think neighbors would have the means to do so?????
No word on how they got the dogs out of the house to “dispatch” them!
Very sad and it will strike fear in any delivery drivers now. Hope Amazon doesn’t have a policy of drivers not being allowed to carry protection to defend themselves...be it animal or human...today it can easily be human!
If Amazon doesn’t allow employees to carry guns a Baseball Batt would sufice.
Awful. Arrest and prosecute the dog owners. I have a Pit mix (part Catahoula). Smartest, sweetest dog I’ve ever had or seen. Everyone who comes over wants to take her home.
