We have acquaintances that live on a large property in a desert area where there are a lot of coyotes. They got two pit bulls to keep the coyotes off of their property and away from their pets and grandchildren.
They could not get insurance on their home.
The neighbors even came over and said they were glad the dogs were they b/c they kept coyotes off of their property too.
Still, every insurance company said no.
Coyotes are less dangerous than pit bulls.
“They got two pit bulls to keep the coyotes off of their property and away from their pets and grandchildren.
They could not get insurance on their home.”
The owners need to tell the insurance company the dogs self identify as poodles.
Why would the insurance companies care that the pit bulls kept coyotes away? If the dogs maul someone, coyote-deterrence is not a mitigating factor in a lawsuit. Probably hurt your friends' argument because insurance companies know that most dog breeds that are successful in deterring predators have a high degree of protectiveness that frequently makes them aggressive toward strangers.
