Just something that drives me up the wall

Mayne I'm making mountain out of mole hills and I just wanted to vent on something here on a simple observation I have made on society today versus what it was say from the 1980's and before. I was born in 1966 so I'm 56 years old. As time goes on, I am having more and more trouble making sense of the way the world is going today and I just scratch my head or just end up giving the old "South Park" 1000 meters stare while staving off a mental "Blue Screen of Death." I was going to type this long ago but listening to music from the 1970's and especially the 1980's (I'm a 1980's guy, often I joke, I'm an overaged 1980's teenager. B-)) and watching the Brady Bunch, it sort of lit a fire under by rump.
I work in the insurance industry for public health plans like Medicaid and Medicare, mainly the former. I go through calls and cases and I mean no ill will to anyone but I made an observation where a lot of families, especially the mothers have a different surname from the kids. This used not to be that way and it seems like this is a huge crack in families and the way of life we used to know and understand. It's getting to the point where I need a playbook to figure out who is who along with a liberal supply of graph paper. It used not to be this way. Again, maybe this is not really major to some but this is just something that drives me bananas when I see it all the time.
I really don't care who marries whom and so forth as long as all sides mutually consent with no duress, just live your own life and don't force it on me or society at large. I just think people will do what they are going to do. Even so, we are losing a lot of our values, values that kept us together fairly well until the huge cracks started in the Clinton Era onward although like many hear, the origins really go much further back than that.
I'm just an average person trying to make it in the world, working for a living, trying to keep my car running and bills paid and surviving.
There are times I felt I was in space for 30 years and came back to a world which I do not like. If I could, I'd stay as long as I can in orbit until my supplies run out, my solar cells start to conk out and batteries croak, then I'd have no choice. I just don't like this "Brave New World."
I apologize for the post, maybe to some, it is not as mportant and just something I needs to get off my chest.

I have 3 daughters I am estranged from aged 28 to 41. The middle one who lives in Seattle I haven’t spoken to in over a decade.
My wife found a support group at a local church, and I found out we got off easy. Many kids are suing for support and calling the police and claiming sexual abuse.
My kids were in Catholic schools and later homeschooled so this obviously was a surprise to me.
Shockingly they are equally hard on my wife, whom I thought always bent over backward for them.

Maybe I am lucky as I age with declining health.
I am free of angst.
My wife's prudence and austerity has made retirement free from serious economic concern.
I am a ravenous consumer of political and economic news, but am somewhat able to convert outrage into introspective critical thinking of how things tie into the historical human condition.
I am blessed with two young grandsons whose exploits allow me to relive the imagined glory of my lost youth.
I have also stopped Quixotic tilting at windmills. My legacy will be teaching those grandsons how to live life. My other accomplishments are almost nil.
Finally I am at peace with mortality. I have accepted Jesus as my savior. I do not wish to die but I am curious about what lies beyond.

Despite the positive advances in technology, science, medical, etc., I envy those from 200 years ago living on the prarie, breaking bread together as a family, and a community that was there for a neighbor. Not for the “collective” but because of a Godly obedience to one another.
As for those “advances in technology” we all know how detrimental those have become.
I’ll take a horse and buggy over an electric vehicle any day! As for the “emissions”, it’s better than what they are shoveling out of Washington DC these days!

82 here but not too old to care for my kids and grandkids who slowly seem to be awakening to the fact its not all about “equity”, Starbucks and the popular culture.

There was an eighty-something year old retired teacher that walked in the evenings in a neighborhood I was working in. He stopped to talk to a former student, and said heâd gone to visit his old school. He was lamenting that the men picking up children werenât removing their caps when they were in the building. Iâd bet that half if them werenât married to the kidsâ moms.

If âthe mothers have a different surname from her kids,â then I feel confused. Where is the father? Yes, the lack of fathers brings about numerous problems for mothers and children, such as lower incomes, lower test scores and lower church attendance.
Solution: pray, do your job and donât worry.
Agreed, I will still just do my job, just wanted to vent a little. I was raised by a single parent myself, Mom. Heck in the 1970's, there was a term for it then, "Latchkey Kids."

I was born in 1951 and had an older brother with a different surname from my moms prior marriage.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not demonizing anyone, it is OK if something like that happens, but I'm just saying that it is almost like 90% of the time. I'm sure the families I deal with love each other and care for each other but just saying that we are so fractured that this is more the norm.

Two clues....you said you don’t care who marries who as long as there is no duress and all parties agree...that is not a given thing...that is why there are divorce lawyers, claims of sexual abuse, physical attacks, child abductions, even murder. Cause people DON’T just agree and get along when married or getting divorced. So that is one reason for breakdown in society.
Women having children with two different surnames could be due to death of the husband. Many times it is due to divorce of a stll fertile women who remarries and bears children to the new husband. That too causes social issues and splits in families with resultant stress and strife.
Plus, many believe that as long as someone does WHAT THEY WANT TO, all will be well. That is a false notion.
Put all that together and it helps spell dysfunctional society. I have not included alcohol, drug use, or mental illness.
IMHO.
Freegards.

All my âproblemsâ in my life are within me,.....and my fault.
Which means I can overcome them by working on and improving myself.
Or I can make peace with whatever is bothering me, if I canât change it, and enjoy life.
Maybe that's it, Glenn Beck at one time made the point where we have to work with ourselves first and then locally to hopefully restore sanity but it will take a long time to do so but maybe that is a start.

Lately, Iâve been listening to sound checks back from the late 60s from KHJ in Los Angeles, the radio station featured in the movie âOnce Upon a Time in Hollywoodâ, complete with DJ banter and commercials, I put it on at night to go to sleep, and it takes me back to my childhood.
In my case, it is KDKA-AM in Pittsburgh and other radio stations, takes me back to my childhood. Radio is a hobby of mine, I have an amateur radio license.

Things can get pretty screwed up when you start looking.
After my grandmother died, my grandfather married her sister.
So, my mama’s aunt was also her step mom.

I disagree that everyone should just do what they want as long as they assent. This destroys societies.
Family is a concept and a word with extraordinary meaning and when we destroy it by âany twosomeâ or âman plus beastâ or âyour haremâ or whatever society is destroyed and people suffer greatly.
Marriage is one man one woman.
I understand where you're coming from, if you want my opinion on the legality of the Constitution and this matter on marriage, the Federal Constitution is silent on it, thus leaving it up to the States and people thereof. That ruling enabling it is bad law like Roe V. Wade. I know is it not perfect but it should be, in legal terms (what is legal may not be the right thing to do wither), a State matter or the people themselves. Then again, we really needed no or very little codification in law for this since in most societies, it was a strong but unwritten rule that marriage is between and man and woman. Man and beast, although I'm sure that there will be some push for it from whatever bubblehead would push it, the animal cannot consent but yeah, I see where you're coming for again, they would try to "make it so" anyways.
It's a tough balance legally, the only thing I can think will solve it is do what the Russians and Serbs did and put in an amendment in the Constitution defining marriage between one man and one woman. I would support and vote for it to settle this once and for all.
If they otherwise just live their lives and not be in our face every five minutes and unless they try to convert kids, I don't have much of a problem but there are some that want to cross that line and like you, I have a problem with it. Teaching tolerance is one thing but when it starts to become a conversion process, that is a whole different matter that should be stopped.

I have always felt our country is under assault by traitors who clearly hate it. The power the traitors have has grown exponentially and the last 10 years have been the steep end of the curve, past the âelbowâ. The last 2 years fed them their oats and they are running full throttle.
Yes, that all includes normalcy like MARRIED mom and dad, not just the tyranny of vaxes and BLM Brownshirts.
Agreed, either we are controlled by the more stupid or it is a plan by traitors, I see it a the latter but supported by the former.
