Melania Trump made an announcement on Twitter this week that had some users scratching their heads. She’s joining all of the living former first ladies — Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Rosalynn Carter, along with current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden — to join efforts to get a women’s suffrage monument erected on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
“I am honored to join @WomensMonument and serve as an Honorary Chair of the Women’s Suffrage National Monument Foundation to help secure a monument on the National Mall of enduring inspiration for women and future female leaders,” Melania tweeted. The Women’s Suffrage Movement lasted from 1848-1917 and helped secure a woman’s right to vote in the United States. The criticism being lobbed at Melania involves her husband Donald Trump, who has continued to lean hard into the false narrative that the election was stolen from him in 2020.
(snip)What some people may not know is that it was Donald Trump who signed the law to get the statue erected in the first place since women from American history are currently not represented on the National Mall — and it’s long overdue. With the assistance of the former first ladies and the current First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, the monument is expected to be unveiled in 2027.

Wonder if the others will show up?
Trump approved this monument.
Rather than deal with these excuses for women she should take up the study of classical Greek and Latin. That would be something useful.
I’m for repealing the 19th Amendment and ending women’s suffrage.
Haven’t we all suffered long enough?…
The Borg requires assimilation
Melania got the message, wants to be part of the gang

It was Donald Trump who signed the law to get the statue erected...
The commies will shun and attempt to embarrass her. she should not lower herself to their level.
Young millennial women who are disproportionately liberal fools make me wonder if it should be universal...
“...the monument is expected to be unveiled in 2027.”
A lot may happen between now and 2027.
GMTA. I was going to say that but didn’t want to get pounded so early in the morning. You’re right and I agree. LOL.
I look forward to the photos of Melania next to those old hags.
Biggest mistake in history.
THE.MALL.IS.FULL.
It never ends. “We are being disrespected if our cause doesn’t get to build on the Mall.”
No. No more monuments or museums on the Mall.
Stepped forward only to serve as comparison to the others
who are attempting to determine if they, in fact, are truly
women.
The odds against her are great.
MT=1
others = 4
The Right Woman is far outnumbered by those Left.
Don’t do it you can’t have unity with trap makers.
Even as a woman, I often contemplate and in many ways agree with your point of view.
Thank you for your post.
There’s plenty of room around there. I did a hike around the area of the Jefferson memorial and MLK and FDR and WWII and Korean War monuments, etc. I did about 6miles of “steps counted” that day. There’s room for more recognition of America going forward. I hope in the years to come that there will be something great to commemorate that we haven’t even imagined yet.
There’s this saying about closing the barn door after the cows have all escaped. Or trying to shut Pandora’s box up again after the bad fairies have gotten out and created havoc all over the world.
I don’t oppose any citizen voting. That being said, women’s suffrage, coming when it did and as it did, may not have been the best thing for our Constitutional Republic.
But it’s already done and, haha, I don’t think it would be a good move on anyone’s part to take voting rights away from so many people.
So the best thing to do - since this post is already full of little folk sayings - is just play the ball where it lies.
Assuming you’re not just a total woman-despising f2g and you do have some females in your life of which you are fond and appreciative, empower them with learning and instruct them as best you can. Advise them to avoid the emotional appeals of many candidates who wish to secure the “women’s vote.” Discuss electoral issues with them in a calm manner without getting emotional yourself. (I know: Tough task.)
Remember: Women in 3rd-world countries, where women are treated very badly and have no rights, will undergo great hardship and danger to be able to vote. They are frequently killed on the way to polling places. It’s a great big deal and for us to sit sort of bellyaching about it cheapens the terrible sacrifices a lot of people, men and women both, are faced with to be able to play a role in the electoral process.
Saying I agree with you, in case you are wondering, on both points - especially with the last one.
