It has been said that sausage is something you can enjoy, but you wouldn’t want to see it made.
Then, would you prefer your “meat” extruded from a nozzle in a laboratory?
More to the point: Would such a food be as delicious and nutritious as the original item it is trying to displace in the market?
Redefine Meat, a startup out of Israel, is one of the latest companies attempting to sell plant-based alternatives to actual meat. Last week the firm announced a partnership that will see its products distributed throughout Europe, according to Reuters.
Specifically, Redefine Meat is trying to introduce its steak cuts: an offering that is neither real steak, nor cut. The meat analogue is manufactured by 3D printing. Layer upon layer of plant-derived biomass is laid down until something approximating the size and shape of a real slab of steak is complete.
Reuters released video showing the process in action.

No, it’s used in some of the veggie based meat. I saw it on an ingredients label and looked it up. Crystal noodle is all starch, they get the protein out and sell it.
Can’t give you the link from this old cell phone. No copy paste with it.
Nope. And I won’t pay 300 grand for. 3D printed electric Cadillac.
It’s not a steak.
How soon before they start 3-d printing broccoli?
Like never!
Perfect
Might as well just eat those “Beggin’ Strips” they make for dogs instead of real bacon.
Tastiest ribs I’ve ever made. No doubt their wild diet impact the flavor.
“they prefer some artifical tumor built in a factory...”
This is different from the “lab grown meat” stuff that I think you are talking about. This is just plant protein they add dyes to and run through a 3d printer to make it look like meat.
Yes. No animal flesh at all. I found it troublesome as a child and when I left for college it didn’t take too long to cut all of it out. No regrets.
All of the meat I eat is plant-based.
Are they demoing a factory production unit, a kiosk interface or a home appliance?
I would demand an internal UVC/ozone system plus an included sanitizer mix and a forceful pressure wash system. Regardless of what sort of food they are producing.
I’m mindful of soft serve ice cream
...using mechanically separated meat...

I think this is already the case w/nuggets and cutely-named frozen *cutlets*, luncheon meats and *sausage* of all kinds.
If anyone is interested, there are several German videos on YT showing how to make your own lunchmeat with the cheapest/toughest cuts of chicken, beef, and pork (or all 3). Basically coarse chop, add flavorings, mix well (some add gelatin). Roll tightly in plastic wrap or a cotton muslin and tie, then simmer fairly long covered/submerged. Cool completely and slice. Haven’t tried the recipes yet.
At today’s prices, it would simply take the time, you’d likely save money and it would taste better.
Oh gosh, try their ostrich if you can.
“The Other Red Meat.” Tastes like a nice steak.
Probably.
Calling it a steak don’t make it so.
I detest the term “plant-based.”
No, I am never going to eat fake meat.
It has all the appeal of Pay-Doh molded to look like a steak-like object.
