Most people don't read the fine print. Fortunately, in the case of PayPal's new terms of service, somebody did.
The online financial transfer company attempted to slip past its users terms that would have allowed it to fine them as much as $2,500 for "the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” which “promote misinformation.” Although this would have supposedly been limited to conduct in the use of its own app, it never seems to work this way on other social media platforms. Patreon, for example, is notorious for imposing its woke morality on content creators who say controversial things on other platforms.
PAYPAL POLICES 'INTOLERANCE,' EVEN AFTER FREE SPEECH BACKLASH
Against all those who would use the "misinformation" as an excuse for suppression of free speech and tyranny, this must be said: It is not a crime to be wrong. This is not said often enough. We don't recommend that anyone spread false information on purpose, but it is still not a crime. This is part of what freedom of speech entails.
Moreover, the disinformation police are seldom fair in what they decide to be disinformation. The political Left has effectively weaponized the very idea of misinformation as a means of stamping out dissenting opinion. It is very unlikely that PayPal's corporate decision-makers will seize money from the New York Times and the Washington Post for their multiple Pulitzer-winning false reports on the Russia collusion hoax. It is doubtful that PayPal would steal money from Stacey Abrams for claiming she won an election that she lost fair and square by 55,000 votes in 2018. PayPal is extremely unlikely to steal money from Joe Biden's account for falsely claiming that inflation is zero,

Google helped develop the Chinese Social Credit System. I would expect them to try to do the same thing here too.
I expect we will all have a social credit score eventually, just as we all have a credit score.
Yes, the liberals are dying to impose a social credit scoring system on us.
Can we pass laws which would outlaw the use of social credit scores? I don’t know what laws or policies are in place, or could be put in place, to stop this trend. But I do know, that the liberals would love to implement such a system on us.
So then, if you show any conservative inclinations, your score will be reduced. The social credit scoring will not be non-partisan or non-political.
1984 lives! Believe it!
Everything the big banks are doing tells me they need to just be stomped, boycotted, canceled and prosecuted.
The mega-bank experiment has failed and become a liability and danger.
Bring back small/local banking and credit unions.
or STOP spying on people
seriously, what are all these companies THINKING!!?!? This is just BAD business!!!
It’s business 101 not to get involved in politics and alienate half your customers.
It is administered by Tri County CAP (Community Action Program)
I tried to arrange a presentation for the Snowdrifters (oldest snowmobile club in the USA), but it fell through.
You can accumulate social credits volunteering with Tri County CAP, or any non profit group that participates.
Snowmobile and ATV clubs, gun club, New England Forest Rally, Ham radio clubs, SCCA, Rally Sprints, etc, if the group signs up and you can log you time and volunteer activities.
Keeps you active, and if the socialists/communists seize power, they might allow you to have food, medical services, medicines, and a place to live if you have enough volunteer hours logged.
If the social credit crap is going to exist, we might as well get credit for supporting things we like, rather than leftist non profits.
Some enterprising lawyer needs to start suing companies for their Willy Wonka style “terms and conditions”.
“It is not a crime to be wrong.”
If it was, we’d have to lock up every single Democrat.
“I expect we will all have a social credit score eventually, just as we all have a credit score.”
We probably already do, it’s just not public information yet.
It is quite likely we all already have one.
The real question is, what are we going to do about it?
One small step would be to kill your PayPal account if you still have one, and to spend some time here: https://old.reddit.com/r/degoogle/
Also use cash more, keep it alive. It’s hard for them to know what you’re doing if you use cash. Though I am sure use of cash will reflect badly in your social credit score.
Many businesses and services are online now--it's very difficult, maybe impractical even, to avoid online shopping for many things.
I live a fairly simple lifestyle. Other than buying hard to get sneakers and vitamins online, I can find most of what I need at the local stores.
