>> I think they have done very well with the deal that was handed to them. <<
That’s because they had parents who loved their country.

Trickle Down Economics (the other big lie) destroyed the middle class before we even had our sea legs underneath us. Destroyed! Destroyed by the eeeeevil Gipper.
Anytime someone claims the middle class has been destroyed or even shrank better give a definition of the middle class at the start and the end of the period along with the percentage of the population in the lower, middle and upper classes. Much of the time the real figures show the middle class has shrunk by the income curve spreading out so some drop below while others climb up to the upper class.

It makes no sense, and I think it’s hilarious.
I was seeing if I could start a generational FR thread war.
I’m bored...

Both my sons were born during the designated time period for Generation X’ers. The oldest will be 56 next month. The youngest will be 52 in February. Neither one of them ever “got it.” Thank God they chose not to have kids.

where reading newspapers, using a touch button land line phone, and just having 3 channels on TV, was the norm.
The newspapers were better written, and often worth reading.
Touch-button? Rotary dial for many of us. Almost no spam calls. On the other end you got a real person, not an endless sequence of touch tone menus that finally send you to the web site. On the other hand, long distance was REALLY expensive.
I could have had my children in the room while flipping through our 8 channels (in CT, you can get NY, New Haven and Hartford stations). Now I have to hunt through 60 OTA stations to find the same shows I watched back then on MeTV or Antenna.

One thing you notice as you get older is each succeeding generation thinks they’re somehow special.
Mine thought the same thing.

First election year that I was legally eligible to vote in after turning 21, was 1968...Nixon v. Humphrey.

Every generation does.
Just like every generation thinks their time is special.
How many religious nuts think “The End is Nigh” generation after generation?

We were the first generation where social and economic destruction of America became a commonly accepted thing.
