where reading newspapers, using a touch button land line phone, and just having 3 channels on TV, was the norm.
The newspapers were better written, and often worth reading.
Touch-button? Rotary dial for many of us. Almost no spam calls. On the other end you got a real person, not an endless sequence of touch tone menus that finally send you to the web site. On the other hand, long distance was REALLY expensive.
I could have had my children in the room while flipping through our 8 channels (in CT, you can get NY, New Haven and Hartford stations). Now I have to hunt through 60 OTA stations to find the same shows I watched back then on MeTV or Antenna.
