Monday marked eight months since WNBA star Brittney Griner was arrested in Russia. Tuesday marked her 32nd birthday.
Griner's representatives shared a message on Tuesday thanking everyone for the support they have given over the past several months.
"Thank you everyone for fighting so hard to get me home. All the support and love are definitely helping me," Griner said in her message, according to the statement.

I cannot imagine traveling to a foreign land with anything north of an aspirin for fear that I would be wrongfully detained or prosecuted in some third world (bleep) and wind up in the circumstances this dull witted athlete finds herself. I’m sure it’s no fun and traumatic for her family but is most certainly not a cause célèbre or a reason to upend diplomacy between Russia and the US. She should shut up, serve her time then find a new country to live in since we’re oppressive and Russia isn’t fair.
