If New York doesn't elect Lee Zeldin governor, it can color itself finished.
Due in no small part to the irresponsible acts of New York lawmakers, New York lawbreakers --- those contained in the entire huge state, not just the five boroughs comprising the heavily populated, strife accustomed city --- are enjoying a field day. Criminals are going about their business with an unprecedented sense of impunity. While lawful firearm owners possessing legitimate needs for self-defense are burdened with ever more onerous regulations and restrictions, thieves and killers experience not the slightest difficulty illegally acquiring weapons to ply their trades.
Sadly, they’re fortified with the knowledge that the odds of ever facing serious jail time for their crimes are getting longer by the day. As a result, eruptions of uncontrolled, often terrifyingly random violence are becoming commonplace throughout the state.
In 2019, in furtherance of the misplaced compassion contained in the ACLU-hyped proposition that “wealth should not determine liberty,” the noisily influential Democrat social justice warriors in New York’s state legislature, with the tentative approval of then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo who dragged along the rest of the intimidated Dem machine, rammed through the disastrous piece of ethno/racial pandering commonly known as cashless bail. This “reform,” ostensibly providing fair treatment for poorer defendants without the financial means to post cash bail or arrange bond, eliminated its requirement altogether for all but the most heinous of offenses. The practical effect was to exponentially speed up an already quickly revolving door, putting repeat offenders and career criminals back on the streets with veritable lightning speed.
To make matters worse, it mostly eliminated a judge’s discretion to consider denying pre-trial release based upon past criminal activity or the likelihood that the defendant poses a danger to the public.

What will stop those who side with the criminals from just stealing the elections?
What will stop those who side with the criminals from just stealing the elections?
Who, not what. We need to stop it ourselves.
As I recall, more than 25% of New York City’s population were born outside of the USA.
Ya know, people were shocked when Cuomo and Hochul told Republicans to get out of NY. It was not a mistake or gaffe. It was a calculated tactic to cement the Democrat’s one party hold on the state. It will be a miracle if Zeldin wins.
When I lived in Ct, I was shocked how fast the state and my town turned into a one party state after the income tax was imposed. It doesn’t take a big out migration to change the political composition of a state.
“What will stop those who side with the criminals from just stealing the elections?”
Nothing. Stealing is a crime. Criminals commit crimes.
As long as the Dominion voting system remains in place in NY, then it highly doubtful that another Republican will ever see the Governors mansion in Albany. The only thing that we still like about NY state , is the change of seasons. Taxes are too high. Crime is out of control and seeping into the suburbs. The schools have become a business where young people are groomed to be good Socialists. The infrastructure is falling apart. Last but not least, if it weren’t for NYC and the cesspool it has become , NY state would actually be a good place to live.
Answer: No. The majority of the people living there are neckstump-stupid.
NYS is toast, the bleeding will never stop. Even if Zeldin won in a miracle election, he has two veto proof Dem legislatures.
As a perennial speed reader I tend to SCAN rather than parse single words.
No matter how many times I see that guy’s name I read it as LED ZEPPELIN and have to double-triple take to make sense out of “the rest of the story” as PJ Harvey used to sing…
I’d vote for him just for the name and, well, to keep the communists at bay for a few more years.
Rock on.
During Curley's reign, Boston lagged behind other American cities in growth and prosperity. He created a welfare state for white Catholics and Jews, with lots of patronage jobs for those with connections.
Substitute whites for Yankees and non-whites for Catholics and you see the basic themes of Jerry Brown and Gavin Newsom in California or the Cuomos and Kathy Hochul in New York. Instead of the suburbs, substitute the red states. A Republican voter leaving California for Texas in 2022 is akin to a Republican voter leaving Boston for Newton in 1922.
And now Newton is extremely liberal, and jewish liberal in parts.
Just one factor in all the New Yorkers leaving for southern states.
