My friend was telling me he was watching the pregame show for the MLB playoff game between the New York Yankees and the now Cleveland Guardians. [The game is currently rained out]
The announcers are Ernie Johnson and Hall-of-Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez. Martinez started calling them the Indians, and Johnson tried to current him, but Martinez just keeps calling them the Indians. Johnson was visibly annoyed and kept saying, "You mean Guardians."
Even after the commercial break, he came back and said Indians. And Johnson was saying Guardians as many times as he could, and it became passive aggressive
A lot of folks at the Cleveland stadium were wearing Indians gear.
I’m rooting for the Indians to beat the Yankees tonight
Pedro...not a bad guy.
Yep. But I am firmly on the Padres bandwagon the rest of the way.
Likewise, but I can’t root for the Guardians to win...
You sure it isn’t the Washington Commies?
Awesome.
They are the Indians.
Guardians is a stupid name and there was no reason to change it.
It’s become Stalinist in that the TV and media are call all the old Indian teams Guardians. For example the Cleveland Guardians won over 100 games in 1954.
They show graphics saying this.
It’s insane.
How can that be legal?
And BTW, I will never refer to the Washington football team by any name but the Redskins. Same with the Cleveland Indians.
This is the way to do it. Just don’t play their game. Use the language like normal people and don’t talk like a freak. It will drive the freaks wild.
He should just avoid throwing the elderly around.
They only told the fans they can’t wear headresses. But they can still wear Indians hats and jerseys.
Good job.
Indians!
Just call them the Cleveland Cucks.
I agree. What the hell are they guarding? The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame fer pete's sake.
They are, have always been, and will always be the Cleveland Indians.
That ole dude had it coming’.
Nah, I wouldn’t have done it. I like Don Zimmer, and I’m not a Yankees fan.
