At best, I’ll turn the game on the radio. Give me a local announcer anyday.
The Yankee offense has been non-existent and Cleveland has been hot. They may go all the way.
BELIEVE
Many decades ago I lived in the SF East Bay Area and would go to the Oakland As games when the Yankees and Red Sox came to town.
The As were terrible in those days and the stadium was totally empty.
The Yankee and Red Sox fans outnumbered the As fans—lots of fun howling at each other.
111 wins
Meaningless wins
111 wins in the regular season does not translate to anything in the postseason. Maybe it should, that’s a valid question. Congratulations to the Padres! I’m sure the networks were hoping for an old-fashioned Yankees - Dodgers World Series but that is not going to happen. The Yankees are still alive, but Dem Bums (as they were formerly known in Brooklyn) have let their fans down once again.
Baseball is the most boring sport invented next to soccer.
The off-time has not hurt the Astros....
I would love to see Cleveland (I won’t call them the Guardians!) beat the Yankees.
And the Phillies re peaking at the right time. Maybe they are this year’s Nationals - fire the manager in June, turn the season around, and go through the playoffs to win it all.
Any day the Dodgers lose is a good day.
Those runs you don't get come back to haunt you.
“Bring back the days of the single camera way up, behind home plate. More like the actual experience of being the average fan in the cheap seats.”
.. . !! .. . but .. . but .. . they’ll STILL cut away for close ups of Kim Kartrashian .. . right ??
Cut the cord, watch the highlights on youtube for 20 minutes, done. You miss most if the spitting, chewing and scratching that way.
As a 1970s era fan of the sport, I would venture to say there is no sport more boring than modern day NHL hockey.
Gone are the 11-7 shootouts, the near constant body checking into the boards, the fights and brawls breaking out. On top of that, almost nobody wore a helmet.
I remember one game in particular from the 1970s era in which I attended at Boston Gardren. The Bruins trailed 4-0 going into the third period and many of the businessmen with corporate tickets were heading to the exits to beat the traffic home. It was one of the craziest third periods I ever saw, the benches cleared several times for brawls, and the Bruins came away with a 7-6 victory.
That kind of game could never happen today because there is a zero tolerance rule on fighting. What used to be a five minute major penalty turned into a multi-game suspension.
Also, much of the thrill of the wide open play has been taken out of the game with the near constant dumping of the puck in the other zone (icing) and nearly every potentially spectacular play being whistled offsides. This forces the teams to adopt a very safe but paralyzing "neutral zone trap" style strategy where the players are mostly clutching each other between the blue lines, trying to keep the other team from making any kind of offensive play. This results in mostly 3-2 snorefests and a lot of ties, which recently have been resolved into shootouts but in those, the losing team still gets a point which is lame, lame, lame.
I never minded the slow and measured pace of a baseball game on the other hand. The constant pitching changes are a nuisance however. Teams should be restricted to just one pitching change a game - the starter and then the reliever. If the reliever gets injured, teams must be forced to bring somebody in from the field, such as the shortstop or left fielder.
The cry heard throughout padres nation was beat LA and LFGSD said in mid-season by catcher and clutch walk off master Jorge Alfaro.
Ok what ever you say baseball has been around for well over 100yrs.
Because the LA trash fans take over petco Park and this playoff was in San diego house so limit the trash.
We got you good.
